Hi,
Turn On Progressive picture option in dvd player to get high definition so tv will show it.
Progressive video signal option would be available in dvd player Setting/ Setup Menu
Thanks.

First off have you tried pressing the format button on your panasonic remote? This should switch between the available formats and resolutions. Let me know if that solves it otherwise we can troubleshoot further.
    Thank you,

Do my panasonic hdtv 1080i need a converter box in order to work?

None of the newer style TV's need a converter box because all the tv channel tuners use a digital signal. The tv signal in the air is now digital when using a tv antenna.

Why am I getting a no signal alert? Top right corner says MDMI.

Check its input settings. Refer its user manual for details. Select the input as TV; and connect the external antenna; and check whether the TV receives any on-air signals. If not, its tuner is faulty. Contact any service technician to replace this part.

Hello.im from malaysia..i have using 42" LG LCD tv..when i see info..i feel confuse because at box it say Full HD 1080p ready but when i see info, it only 1080i 50hz..how can i change this?

You do not change the resolution at the TV, the vidoe/signal sources will dictate what it will display on the TV, if it is fed with 1080i it will display 1080i. If you want 1080p, your video source will have to be 1080p. It works the same as your PC monitor, you adjust the resolution at the PC, not at the monitor.
I hope I explain it well enough.

How do i turn on an hdtv 1080i on?

You don't "turn on" 1080i, the TV receives a signal that is in that format and displays it. If the antenna or whatever you have is not giving a High Def input to TV, it can't display HD picture.

THE USER'S GUIDE IS GENERIC. IT PROBABLY COVERS 20 DIFFERENT MODELS WITH DIFFERENT OPTIONS. THE BIGGEST GAP IS THE INFO ABOUT THE VIDEO OUTPUT FORMAT AND THE ASPECT RATIO SETTINGS. THERE ISN'T ANY. HOW ARE...

Your best bet is to set your cable box to put out a 1080i signal. Some of these RCA TV's won't accept 720p. It should work at 480i and 480p as well but those are standard definition and enhanced defination respectilvy.

Upscale from 480p Signal via HDMI

ok the problem might not be with your receiver it is with your direct tv settings. Double check to make sure you go to the format and set it up to be fixed or 1080i whichever will give you the highest resolution. Check your manual for the direct tv receiver. If this is all correct for the DTV then you must go into the setup on the receiver and at hardware icon toward bottom check on that box, now goto the hdmi settings and make sure it is set to through. this will allow the best picture with no upscaling which will degregade picture for blu ray. so your direct tv will be only 1080i but very impressive. if you still want to upscale you can then you have to change the hdmi settings from before to upscale 1080p . I just hope that your dtv can output 1080i it will give a better picture than 480p even if both are upscaled to 1080p
Oh i forgot to ask if you are connected through hdmi to the tv. Hdmi is the only option for upscaling
