Doesn't work I just purchased a Panasonic Microwave on ebay, and plugged it in, and it worked for about 30 seconds. stopped and it says H98. Every time I try to get it going now, it just sits there and says H98 It does not have a model number but says "Genius Sensor 1250" 'Invertor" and is a full size 2.2 cubic ft unit.

it will not heat and H98 shows up on it

  • Anonymous Mar 20, 2014

I have a Panasonic Model #NNT945SFX 1250 watts microwave and the other day it quit working and an error number H98 appeared on the lcd screen area. I was told because it is a counter microwave and not built in, it's cheaper to just buy a new one and not bother with having it repaired as it's too expensive and also I read where a certain model of the Panasonic is not fixable. What do you think about this? It is the Genius Sensor 1250 Watt.

No model number?? I'd be pretty suspicious why someone removed the model / serial tag!!

I'd be even more suspicious if someone sold you a microwave with such a serious problem without informing you of it in the auction item description beforehand.

H98 means you have a bad inverter, magnetron, or control board.

You can find a troubleshooting chart for this error code here.

After posting this, I discovered the model number (don't have it with me). Also, in the ebay post, it did, indeed say, that it does not heat. I called Panasonic, and they told me that it is still covered by the warranty. So, it is being taken care of.

Microwave Panasonic NN T551 new does not start even after pressing clock button , no display to set clock . Icon comes only. As : after pressing stop button. No other button gives any response

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your Panasonic microwave oven NNT551. If the clock button is not responding and you only see two dots when pressing the stop button, there might be a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Power Cycle the Microwave:
    • Unplug the microwave from the power outlet.
    • Wait for about 30 seconds.
    • Plug it back in and try setting the clock again.
  2. Check for Child Lock:
    • Some microwaves have a child lock feature that can prevent certain buttons from functioning. Check your manual to see if your model has this feature and how to disable it.
  3. Reset to Default Settings:
    • If there is an option in the manual or settings to reset the microwave to its default settings, try doing that.
  4. Inspect for Physical Damage:
    • Ensure there is no physical damage to the control panel or any other part of the microwave that may be affecting its functionality.

Microwave cuts off after 30 seconds

We would need to know the brand and full model number to be sure, but since you posted in the Panasonic section, I'll assume it's a Panasonic.

Panasonics have preset times in which it will shut off if certain failures occur.

If it stops at 16 seconds and is a sensor model, it probably has a defective humidity sensor.

If it stops after 22 seconds, that means the controller has detected a problem, usually a problem with the inverter, controller, magnetron, or a bad connection from one or the other.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Shuts off but everything else works

If the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

If it stops after 22 seconds, that means the controller has detected a problem, usually a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Operates for 3 seconds on microwave then stops

If the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

It could possibly be as simple as a loose connection in that area. The repair shop your friend used may not have been Panasonic-authorized.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer.

Panasonic NN-CS596S Convection Combi Steam Oven

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

Let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

If it stops at 16 seconds and is a sensor model, it probably has a defective humidity sensor.

If it stops after 22 seconds, that means the controller has detected a problem, usually a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

If you do indeed have a problem, Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer.
