Question about Acer Extensa 4220-2148 Notebook

Open Question

Hi I recently rebooted my acer extensa 4220 notebook using the erecovery management on the laptop to its factory settings. I then wanted to revert back to my the old format which i had saved under HDD under erecovery. It seemed that it was rebooting back to the old set up but now when i turn the laptop on i get a black screen and error message saying that windows could not start because a file is missing or corrupt and to replace this file. Can i use a recovery CD to help start laptop? Please help

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Acer eRecovery Management starts on boot or

Somehow, e-recovery is being triggered at boot time. click start-programs-startup, and remove e-recovery from the startup folder if it is present. If not, click start-run, type in msconfig - a window will appear. Go to the startup tab and uncheck any items with e-recovery in the name. do not delete all acer items. Tread lightly here. Anyhow, if that doesn't do it, remove the acer items one by one in msconfig and reboot after each change until it's right. Don't make a habit of using msconfig too often though.

Hope this helps!

Looks like your recovery cd is corrupted. You must obtain a copy of Ms Windows cd and install it using the license from the back of your laptop. If that doesn't work either its a hardware related (hdd) problem.

The best place to download drivers is the manufacturer's website. The Acer webpage for Extensa 4620 downloads is here:)

http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/ex_4620.html

Note you can download not only the drivers but also the additional Acer utilities for this notebook. I am not familiar with one called eRecovery. If you are going to use as a 'what if', you should download everything into separate folders within a master folder (like C:Acer Drivers) and burn it to CD, as the hard drive might not be accessible at the time of 'what if'.
