If your hearing a soft buzz and then a click every so often you may have a start relay out on the compressor. If you are not hearing anything from the compressor are then there is an overload protector with the relay that may have went out.

How do you get compressor running after power outage?

Hello AnnArborMom, thank you for your inquiry!

I would recommend you adjusting the temperature to a lower setting to see if that would start your compressor to cool. If that is not successful I would contact a professional to come and properly diagnose your appliance. It could be that the power outage shorted the main control board or relay. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

Fan won't run / won't cool

It may have a faulty compressor relay or overload, best to change both at the same time. It's either that or a bad compressor.

Refrigerator won't cool

Unplug for a few hours with doors open to do two things 1 to cool down compressor that got to hot from no fan running and to melt ice off coil in the freezer. There is an internal overload built inside compressor and will stay hot with constant power, thats why you need to unplug. Also check bottom coils where fan is and make sure not blocked with pet hair or debris.

[email protected] fridg& frezer will chang 30 to 40 degrees if you open either door it will take a long time for for temp to drop

The compressor is the part which cools the refrigerator.---------- First i will explain the working procedure of your sanyo refrigerator.---------- In the refrigerator, there is a part called compressor, the compressor is the part which cools the freezer section, When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold.--------- So the freezer section cooling/ freezing is must.If freezer is not getting properly cooled or not getting cooled, then fridge section will show the low or no cooling problem.--------------
In your refrigerator, its quite possible that compressor is got weak, nor complete faulty but little bit weak.So when you open and close the fridge or freezer door , the compressor is not that strong to maintain the required temperature. So its working hard to cool inside temperature, but its not doing it quickly as it should.---------.---------- In the compressor there is a refrigerant called FREON.With the help of this Freon the compressor cools the freezer section.Freon is a gaseous type cooling agent. The compressor will stop cooling when coolant gets leaked from its chamber.--------- Again recharging the Freon is possible, but the cost for that recharging is approx the cost of new compressor. So its always advisable to get compressor replaced.Because new compressor has warranty for few years.------------------ You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- ----------------
There is manual reset procedure, sometimes the ice gets frosted all over and blocks the ventilation's for cool air to pass from one section to another, and this also causes problem. So directly going for compressor inspection, before that you can try manual reset procedure and see if that helps.---------

The manual reset procedure is as follows : ----
First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section. It will take approx 4 to 6 hours for your refrigerator to regain its regular cooling/ freezing .So after 4 to 6 hours check , Is the refrigerator cooling properly or is it taking time or temp is dropping once you open close door. If this problems are not noticed, then reset procedure has helped.------- But if same problem is noticed after reset procedure is followed, then you can get the compressor checked. -------- This should help. Thanks.Helpmech.

I have a Artic Air White Reach In Freezer. It is not blowing cold air from he top where the cold air comes in. Freezer was at 60 degrees F. I turned the defrost switch to make sure it wasn't in...

Is the freezer itself getting cold.To blow cold air.the freezer should get cold/friezed.the cold air blows from freezer to fridge side.first the freezer side gets cold, then when the freezer side gets enough cool to its set cooling temperature, at that time the defrost cycle starts. In defrost cycle the fan in the freezer starts running and the cool air from freezer starts going to fridge side. There is a ventilation passage between fridge and freezer from where this cool air passes.---------------- If in your case, the freezer is getting proper cold, but its not blowing cold air from freezer to fridge, then possibility is that, there is a blockage in ventilations. But if ventilation its clear, then its defrost problem.First try manual defrost reset procedure. The procedure is as follows: ---- First unplug the unit from main power outlet. It will take near to 4 hours to get run in its proper cooling cycle. Then check, if the problem returns again. Then its defrost board problem. ------------------------- BUT if in your case, the freezer section itself is not getting cold, then the problem is compressor related. The compressor is the part which cools the freezer frost. In the compressor, there is a refrigerant to cool the freezer. If the compressor gets weak or the refrigerant gets low, then it will not cool the freezer, if the freezer is not cool then it will blow warm air from freezer to fridge, in defrost cycle. In that case, the compressor is faulty and its the cause of problem.------------ So you will have to first check , that is your freezer getting cold or not.as per that you can start the troubleshooting.------------------

You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Freezer is not getting cold not sure if it is stuck in defrost mode

Freezer not getting cold, then defrost problem is rare, it can be compressor issue. If freezer getting cold but fridge not getting cold, then yes it can be defrost problem. The procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located.---------- But in your problem, you mentioned, in that freezer section is not stating cooling. So the compressor can be the issue. But still try reset procedure and see, if that is helping. Try manual defrost reset procedure: ---- First unplug the unit from main power outlet. It will take near to 4 hours to get run in its proper cooling cycle. Then check, if the problem returns again. If still the same problem, then the compressor has to be inspected.

you can get the required parts from online sites like:---

www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site.---------This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Fridge works for about 3 weeks then freezer freezes up and fridge stops working i unplug it for 24 hours and it works for another 3 weeks same story??? what do i dooo? it is a ge side by side newer...

If there is no cooling at all , before we go further we must confirm the first step of confirming the compressor and gas pressure. So shut off the fridge and leave it off while you clean and check the evaporator for frost. If frost is seen it is a good indication as the compressor is working with sufficient gas within.
Now after about 6 hours plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.
Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge.
However if Ice forms then observe the fridge for about 24 hours for cooling to continue and the fridge to cut off . If not the auto defrost timer, or the thermostat must be checked.
If defrost timer works but frost keeps forming check while the compressor shuts check if the heaters are working, check continuity of the heaters.
So try this test from the outside and make your observations so that we come to the solution.

Fridge and freezer not cooling. The fan is running

Is the compressor clicking? If so, the pressure may be too high. tHis happens if the temperature control is lowered too soon after the compressor cuts off, or if house power fails for a shorrt period, etc.

1. UNPLUG the power cord.
2. Set the temperature dial to the settings you want.
3. Close doors and wait a full 10 minutes (more if you don't get impatient).
4. After 10 full minutes, plug power cord back in. It should start now.
5. Try not to open fridge for an hour or so, or until you hear tyhe compressor cycle off.

Hope this hellps!

Fridge not staying cold

did you let the fridge stay in it's new place for 24 hours up right before turning it on?
Try turning it off for at least 24 hours and start it back up again.
If you moved it on its side the compressor oil flows into the lines and must beable to drain back down before using it.
If not you'll seeze the compressor.
not good.

Kenmore side by side not cooling after a move

go to the back of the fridge see if it has a white relay on the compressor that's the piece that plugs onto the compressor if it does un plug the unit take it off and shake it if it rattles and little black stuff falls out of it replace it with a three in one relay from an appliance repair parts store just follow the instructions on the part its easy don't worry about water in the ice maker it will fill when it starts cooling if it doesn't have the relay try turning it off for 24 hours to give the oil time to run back down to the compressor and advise me further
