Horizontal pale blue lines on LCD screen and even on picture

Hello,

I' ve had my Sony DSC H1 for two and a half years now. Since then I' ve had the same problem with camera.

When I want to take a photo in low light or dark the horizontal pale blue lines appear on LCD screen and are seeing on the taken picture. I went to Service support company in my country two times, but every time they said that this was nothing and that was only temporary.

OK, it' s true. I found that the horizontal lines appear from time to time, but they are bigger and bigger now.

I wonder if you could solve my problem. I would be very grateful.

    Hy Allan,

I' ve tried what you wrote to me but unfortunately it didn' t work. Now, I find that when I shoot a scene lines never shows up even when I shoot over 400 ISO.

When I take pictures lines are all over the LCD screen and it seems like there is a sort of short circuit or maybe quick power cut.

Is it possible that Steady Shoot is the cause?

    Thanks for your help!

    Best regards, Maya

Hey Ma-ya,
Most of the time horizontal lines are a result of taking photographs in very bright situations. If you are seeing horizontal lines on the LCD screen and in your images in low light situations this is most likely digital noise. Two ways that could fix this problem are turning the noise reduction on, and/or making sure your flash is turned on and your subject is within the range of your flash. Another cause of digital noise is having your iso set too high (I never shoot over 400 iso). I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

You need to smear peanut butter all over the ccd, the natural oils will seep into the ccd and coats it and protects it.

Leave it on for a few hours. Turn it on for 5mins. Turn it off. Leave it for a few more hours. Wipe the peanut butter off and this will stop the issue from happening again.

My camera gets horizontal coloured lines on the lcd screen sometimes and at the same time it appears on the photograph as well.what to do?

Two things can cause this problem.

1. shooting into sunlight
2. dirty connector at the memory card (memory stick pro duo or equivalent).- remove memory card and blow out with compressed air and inspect metallic connections on the card.
