It should be as easy as pressing the priority button. If that doesn't work then you've got bigger problems.

A letter p is poping up in front of one of my channels as its scanning why

The letter P is for Priority. The channel with the letter P is set for Priority. When the scanner is operating, anytime a signal goes to that channel it will automatically switch to it and you will hear the transmission. If you have the user manual you can see how to set it. You can usually find a copy of the manual on line, or google for instructions.

Audio cuts out for a sec.every 3 sec when onscan

It sounds like you have the scanner set for PRIORITY scan and the cut out you hear is the scanner sampling the designated PRIORITY channel. You can easily confirm this just by checking the scanner's display and noting if PRI is constantly displayed. To turn off this feature, just press the FUNC and PRI keys while in scan mode.

HI my name is mark i HAVE A uniden bearcat scanner and i am geting a p on one of my channels can you tell me how to get rid of it thanks

Hi Mark: To deactivate the priority scan mode on the BC60XLT-1, just press the PRI (Priority) key while the scanner is running in either SCAN or MANUAL mode. If your scanner is something other than the BC60XLT-1, please provide your model number and I'll research the answer for you.

IT HAS A MOMENT OF SKIP IN EVERY BROADCAST

The first thing i would check is if the "Priority" function is on. If "Priority is on it will skip everytime it takes a look at the priority frequncy.

Here are the instructions for turning on and off the priority feature.

To turn on the priority feature, press Func + Pri
during scanning. PRI appears. Then the scanner
checks the designated priority channel every
2 seconds in each bank.
To turn off the priority feature, press Func + Pri. PRI
disappears.

How do i use an inherited uniden scanner. dad didn't leave instructions.... how do i set it up? which frequency do i use? many thanks

A scanner, if used properly, can monitor frequencies as it progresses through them. If you want your scanner to monitor only certain frequencies of your choice, you can set those frequencies as the PRIORITY channels. Example: push PROGRAM then punch in frequency 152.6255 then set the mode (if nessessary) at VHF (very High Frequency) UHF (Ultra High Frequency) or FM (Frequency Modulator) or AM (Amplitude Modulator) etc. You can program as many priority channels as the scanner allows.

Hope this helps!

Seems to drop off every 3 seconds.

Check if your scanner has been set up to monitor a 'priority channel' whilst scanning. If so then disabling the 'priority' mode will probably stop the regular interruptions that are frustrating you.
Scanners when in priority mode stop what they're doing at regular intervals to check the channel that is set as priority channel to see if it has any activity on it. This is why i think that 'priority' operation fits the issue you are describing.

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
BB
