    Hi,
I know the disc is ok,as I have 2 D1's and it worked no problem on the other one.If I select say the "S" to sew on it's own, without programming into a word,it performs correctly, let's me step through the colours using the + button, too. ??????

The software could be corrupted. I found a site with some software downloads, and maybe they will help fix this problem, or you might want to uninstall and reinstall the software for your machine. Here's the site:
http://www.husqvarnastudio.co.uk/updates.html
Other people reported problems, but didn't have much luck with Husqvarna, and one lady even lost her machine after sending it to them, so I'm not optomistic about support other than local dealers, perhaps.
Good luck, hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.

It sounds like the S from this particular alphabet may not be compatible with the Viking Designer 1. Was it official Viking Alphabet software? If so are you sure it indicated that it was compatible with your model of sewer? It sounds like it may not be, but if it clearly stated it was then there is something else going on here.

Let me know, thanks
Tim

Strange, so if you try to sew the same "Sam" layout on another one of your D1's it works properly? If that's the case it sounds like you just need to reload the software onto the D1 again, something could have been corrupted in the process. Please verify with me that Sam works fine on the other ones?

    Thanks
    Tim

Yes,It works Great on the other one. Every thing else seems to work fine on this one too, except the programming. I had to calibrate the machine when I got it 2 weeks ago,one of your experts helped me with that. It's version 1.22. Thanks for your help, hope you can sort it for me.

You should try to reload the software on to the machine using the same method you did the first time, it should just overwrite the existing software in there. Have you ever needed to calibrate any of your other machines in the way you did this one? If not I wonder if this unit is having some larger issue that is manifesting itself in these ways. Did you purchase this unit brand new? Is it too late to return it if need be?

    Thanks
    Tim

Also, are your other machines the same 1.22 version?

    Thanks

Hi, The machine was bought used off e-bay,but is in immaculate condition, and has hardly been used. All the bobbins are new,and loads of stuff still in original wrappers. My other machine is version 2.24. I have never loaded software on to any machine, they are both as I got them.

/Users/catherineserafinowicz/Desktop/IMG_2015.JPG This is what I stitched out,on the other machine.

Yes, I dont think its a problem with the CD, it may be a problem with
how it loaded onto the machine, or incompatible software. You say one of your sewers is version 1.22 and one is version 2.24? I'm assuming the one that works in 2.24? It sounds like you need to upgrade the software from the 1.22 version to 2.24 in that case.... 1.22 is very old compared to 2.24.... and the Alphabet software may be only compatible with 2.0 and newer.

I'm not sure I understand the problem exactly. It sounds like you touch pad is not responding properly. Did you notice before this happened that you needed to touch the screen not exactly where the button on the screen comes up. If that is the issue your best bet is to have a husqvarna Viking tech and have the touch screen calibrated.

EXTERNAL FLOPPY DRIVE FOR DESIGNER 1 ?? HOW TO

Sorry, an external floppy drive will not work for a Designer 1. You would have no where to plug the cable in to. The internal floppy drive is quite expensive. You might want to look around for a used Designer 1. You can probably find one for $400-$500. Replacing the floppy drive on yours would cost you almost $400 depending on the local dealer pricing.

My husqvarna designer 1 keypad doesnt work

It could be the Touch Screen. If it is a Designer 1. If it is a Designer II or Quilt Designer or #1 it could be the Dcard. Recommend it be checked by an Authorized Viking Dealer. You can find the nearest dealer from the Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us Click on the link Locate a Dealer.

Replace floppy drive with USB on a Designer 1

Check with a Viking dealer whether Viking offers a conversion kit. My guess is that rather than offer such a kit, Viking would rather sell replacement floppy drives or a newer model of machine.

Intermittent floppy disk drive for Husqvarna Viking Designer 1

These 3.5-inch floppy disk drives are never produced by the manufacturer of the device, but by one of a few floppy disk drive manufacturers (usually Sony) and as such, should your disk drive start to fail, you may be able to disassemble the case of the Viking Designer 1, remove the floppy drive, and insert another standard floppy salvaged from a tower-type PC, thus fixing the problem.
Since 3.5-in. floppy drives are becoming more and more scarce in modern computers (in favor of CD-RW drives) you may have a obsolete tower computer (remember Windows 98?) in your basement (or your friend's basement/yard sale/flea market/www.Craigslist.org/www.eBay.com) that could supply a useable FDD (floppy disk drive).

Take it to a Vik dealer and they can have the USB port install in the machine in place of the floppy drive.

I the floppy discs that control my Designer 1 embroidery machine

You can have replacement discs ordered from Husqvarna Viking. Visit an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for them to order the replacement discs. However, you might luck out and they have some already on hand from a scrapped machine or a trade-in. You can find your nearest dealer by visiting the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com and clicking on dealer link down the left side of the page.

Good luck.
