Re: magnavox 42mf230a smoked
It should be repairable, however I would suspect the cost to be about half what a new one would be. A circuit board plus labor can easily approach $500. If you're lucky and it was just a few easily replaced components like capacitors venting, then you could possibly get off with a few hundred less.

Black lines on Plasma TV are cause by either the buffer boards or the logic board. OR your screen is bad. the only way to find out is the replace the boards. I would start with the Buffer boards. The buffer boards are located on the bottom of the screen attached by ribbon cables to the screen. look at the bar and replace the board that lines up with it. You can find parts fro this TV at www.interliquidparts.com You have to get the actual part number from the part on your TV to get the correct one.
Chances are real good, that you have a blown capacitor. When you open or lift the back cover, you will find one or two capacitors that are bulged! These capacitors will need replaced. I would guess one of them will be 25 volts at 1200Mf. There will be another very close by. I do not recall its value at this time. It will need replaced as well. Find a TV tech or even an electronic hobbiest to check all the nearby capacitors. You may be able to save this TV. Give me a few hands and thanks for asking!
Replace lower scan converter PCB, which plugged into Y-Sustainer Board, located to the left of the display if you poke back cover open. There are 2 of them, but in some models might be the one, long PCB.don't wait to fix it! otherwise, you will knock out Y- Sustainer and upper scan converter. That will cause you to spend few hundreds to fix it. Good luck, Alex's TV Service, Philadelphia, Pa, 215-806-5980.
One of the driver IC'S has gone bad. Need to replace just the driver IC or the board that the IC is on and that should solve your problem. If that doesn't do it, then the BAD NEWS IS THAT THE PANEL IS BAD. Replacement is you only option then. Good luck. GURU JAY.
If you left your Garmin c330 on running the battery will have 1% life left. If you turn c330 back on again, it will flash screen for 3 seconds then die, even charging it at this point will not wake it back up. TO BRING IT BACK TO LIFE... plug in the power home or car into Garmin c330. There is a tab in the front Garmin gray frame of your screen. You must take like your fingernails and under the logo "GARMIN" pull the whole gray plastic frame off. Underneath the plastic frame to the right hand side. There is a "RESET" button. Make sure power is plugged in while hitting reset. Your battery should come back to life. Cheers
