Hi,
Here is a test you can use to check the ignitors, Ignitor test. I also would like to you turn the thermostat knob slowly from the off position, When do you hear the click in the knob? You should hear it before the warm or lowest numbered setting on the knob. If you don't, replace the thermostat as it has failed. Need full model number to get you part.
Good Luck
Stay dry out there!!

Ignitor keeps clicking on burner

A creda microwave oven doesn't have an ignitor or burner, so I assume you are talking about either a BBQ grill or gas range.

A suggestion: Clean the ignitor tip with a CLEAN and DRY green scouring pad; check that you have gas coming out of the burner.

If you have gas at the burner and the ignitor is clicking (sparking) then it is usually an ignitor alignment problem where the ignitor got bumped out of position.

We have a 6 burner, nat gas cooktop....all unit light but the igniter clicking will not stop...unplugged it . question: all mechanics are closed is this safe gaswise?

What happens in this style ignition system is that the thermostat or electronic control switches power to the oven ignitor and gas valve circuit which are connected in series (one after the other). As power flows through the ignitor it heats and draws current (measured in amperage). Once the oven ignitor draws a specific amount of current the oven valve opens to allow gas to flow to the oven burner where the glowing hot ignitor (glow bar) ignites it. Power must continually flow through the ignitor and oven gas valve for gas to be released into the oven burner to create a flame. Once the set temperature is achieved the control stops all power to the ignition circuit which causes the ignitor to dim and the oven gas valve to close, stopping any burner flame. Cycling on and off continues to maintain the specific temperature the control is set for.

The oven takes a long time to start heating. somtimes if we turn a burner on and off the oven starts you can see the starter element glowing

If this is a gas oven, and the starting element you're referring to is the ignitor, replace the ignitor, it's "worn out". Depending on your make and model the ignitor is usually either flat or round. Part numbers respectively are 12400035 and 4342528. The ignitors can be substituted for the ones with the same shape regardless of the brand.
