Canon, I have aZR-950 Mini DV

Canon,

I have aZR-950 Mini DV camcorder and I can not get it to record a TV, or DVD/VRC/computer recording.
I plug everything in and the Mini DV screen will not show what is on the TV so I can not record it to the Mini DV. i folowed the menu instructions to execute the Mini DV so it would start feeding the signal form the VCR/DVD.I tried both an anolog (DVD/VCR)and Fire wire for computer.
The camcorder would still recogize the feed
Am I doing something wrong?
