The cable company wants you to believe that 25 channels in hd are free, but ONLY if you are a paying customer of theres. It is basically impossible to receive 25 HD channels with an antenna. At best you will be able to receive maybe 10 channels. This is what I was told, but I may be wrong.

Save on electric bill by washing a/c condensing unit.

When changing your filter be sure to go outside and check to see that the coils to the outside unit (condenser) are flean and free of trash or leaves. Keeping that outside unit clean is like improving the gas mileage for your car. It will save you money every month its in use.

Save 240 dollars on your next computer...

Have you ever heard of linux? It's an operating system that has gained a lot of popularity.

One of the main reasons why is that most distrobutions or "distro's" like the popular Ubuntu are free!

Microsoft Windows can cost you up to 120 dollars.

Ubuntu runs most of the hardware (printers, etc) that windows does, and has no cost.

The other money saver if you use Microsoft Office (Another 120 dollars) is to use Open Office.

Open Office from openoffice.org is also absolutely free!

And it can open and edit any Microsoft Office document! it even seves to MS Office format so you can open it up at school, at work, etc, to print it off, give it to a teacher, or the boss...

On the low end of cost ms windows is around 70-80 dollars.
MS Office is almost always at the 120 dollar mark.

If your looking to build your own computer, or just buy a finished one at a computer distributor, you can get really good deals by buying a "NO OS" computer, and then just install ubuntu (which comes with openoffice) and you've got a new computer that can handle almost every application windows does for much cheaper.

If your interested, here are the links:

and

http://www.openoffice.org/

P.S. If you are still using a dial in modem for internet, the chances of ubuntu or any other linux version being able to use this connection type are next to none, sorry dial up internet users.

Freezer frosting up in bottom and up the back. Not allowing freezer or fridge to cool properly. If defrosted it works properly for 6-8 weeks before frosting up again. Why has it started frosting up

You might try testing the seals on the freezer door using th edollar bill test:

To test the seal, use the dollar bill test. Place a a dollar bill or a piece of paper between the seal and the refrigerator and close the door. Now pull the paper out. You should feel tension as you pull. Retest along the entire door seal.

If it fits loosely in places, it's time to replace the seal. This happened to me with an older manual defrost freezer, and since it was both an energy hog (due to its age--they made them less efficient 20 or more years ago) and the seal would either be hard to find, or I would have to pay an appliance repair person $75 per hour plus the part, which was somewhere around $50 or more, if I found the right one. I decided to go frost-free and buy a newer one that was bigger, better lit with LEDs, and got interest-free credit for a year (I paid it off in 4 months).

If you buy a new one, reviews suggest that the ones with fancy digital controls may be less reliable in the long run and cost you money for repairs of the digital thermostat. I bought the same model except that it didn't have the digital control panel on the outside of the freezer door. I also saved a few hundred $ by getting the non-digital model.

If your door seal passes the dollar bill test, then your trouble is elsewhere. Mine was so bad I had to chisel the food out of the freezer. For the last week before the new one was delivered, I used packing tape all around the door to keep moisture out.

Why shuld we save electricity

The argument for 'saving electricity' is saving at 'peak' times so additional generators don't have to be started up to meet peak demand. The additional generators are smaller, they cost more to run per Kilowatt generated.

A second argument for saving electricity is so we can continue expanding our economy by adding new homes and businesses, without needing to build another electric generation plant.

A third argument for saving electricity is your bill is lower.

The Kvar product you posted under is a scam. If you want to reduce electric bill, consume less electricity.

30year old side by side ge frost free fridge just stopped working. any suggestion to try?

Do not put good money after a tried and true machine. 30 years is twice the noral life of a good refer. You got it, and trying to squeeze any more time out of it is pouring money down a hole.

The 30 year old machine will use about 2-3 times more power than the newer ones, and that will lower your power bill considerably. Could lower it as much as 15-25 dollars a month. That can go a long ways towards paying for the new one, plus you will be able to leave the house, go camping and vacation and feel better that you probably will not come home to a "Melt Down" refer.

Wish I had better news for you, but this is the truth and I make nothing for explaining this to you. I have had hundreds of customers that some how become attached to there refers and just do not want to part with them. Do not let this machine own you.

Kindly,

Jim
