    I have a similar problem

  • Anonymous Jan 02, 2009

I think it's an intermittent problem with the D70s. I have had problems several times with different cards (lexar Pro) and on different batteries. Occasionally there is an error flashed on the screen where the count shows. Might be the typical error -E- or CHA. If the problem happens and you try to review pictures, the screen is scrambled.

I don't think it has anything to do with the card itself... After trying several 'brand new cards' the camera corrupts the cards after clicking 2 shots

Difficult to say without seeing whats going off, your best bet is to stop using the card and get a memory card reader its quicker and better, and all your pictures may just be there and formatting the card may solve the problems..

if all is still not all right (prior to formatting the card) the card may have a fault or be corrupted (assuming the camera is ok)

There are many programs that can help you recover faulty formatted or corrupt memory cards. Do a search on google and try a few as some are better than others and some work better in certain situations than others.
searches to try
memory card recovery
memory card repair
Corrupted Memory Card

I wish you the very best of luck..
If I can be of further help drop me a line

Camera will not power up changed battery just went dead Nikon D70

Fixing a Dead Nikon D70 - Green Blinking Light My first-generation Nikon D70, which I bought the day it was released to the market a few years back, died on me a few months ago. Without a card in it, it won't start, and when you insert a CF card in the slot, the green data-access indicator flashes on and off. If I hold down the Menu button, the menu flashes on and off along with the green LED.
d70_87x1.jpgAs it turns out, this is a known problem with the original Nikon D70 cameras, and Nikon USA has a service bulletin out on the camera body. They'll repair it free of charge.
So, if you have the same problem, visit this service bulletin page, click on the D70, and you can access a PDF file that you'll need to print, fill out and send to Nikon along with your camera body. Be sure to take your camera strap off and remove the battery, and don't send any lenses or other accessories.
Mine's on it's way to Nikon now - they say the turnaround is five days (plus shipping time).

Nikon D70 with brand new Sandik ultra11 2gb flash card error CHR

Go to the Nikon site and upgrade the firmware on your D70 to version 2.0.

Before doing that, try turning the camera off, wait a min, then back on. That sometimes clears the error. The D70 is having trouble reading the card(s) you're putting in. The upgrade fixes that.

Camera read CF card, but cannot see on USB or other media

You can connect the camera to the computer via a USB cable and use the camera as the card reader. It will show up as a mass storage device. You should then be able to copy the images to your PC and format the card once recovered.
