Lexmark x3470 cartridge missing message

I have a Lexmark X3470 with an error message coming across the printer stating that the cartridge is missing. I have bought a new cartridge and made sure there was ink in it. It is so discouraging and I hate to think of paying someone to help put an ink cartridge in every time I need a new one.
