Question about Canon MultiPASS MP730 All-In-One InkJet Printer

WASTE INK NEAR FULL. I tried the solution offered, ie pressing the Menu, Copy, # keys and then scrolling through the meanu items to find COUNTER, but COUNTER is not one of the menu options. When I press the Menu, Copy, # keys, I get the SERVICE MODE, and the options there are #1 SSSW, #2 MENU, #3 NUMERIC Param, #4 NCU, #5 TYPE, #6 GENESIS (UHQ), #7 PRINTER, #8 CLEAR, #9 ROM, #10 CS SET, SERVICE REPORT, TEST MODE.

    I don't think the previous "expert" read my query. I don't get "COUNTER" as an option when I press Menu, Copy, #. See my original query for details of the options I get when I press that combination of keys.

    Nope, that's not working either. When I get to the TEST MODE and I hit the "3" button I don't get Eprom Clear, I get 3: PRINT [1]---[9]. The TEST MODE dialogue reads TEST MODE [1]-[8] CF-FM3 :WLD-11-02

First of all you must remove and clean (or replace) all the ink absorbers, otherwise the ink will start spilling on your desk. You need to dismantle the printer for that.
To reset the counter:
1. Hit the "menu": Key
2. Hit "Copy" Key
3. Hit "#" Key
4. Scroll thru the menu headings until you come to "Test Mode" - 12th heading
5. Hit the "3" button- this will bring up Eprom Clear
6. Hit "0" button
7. Hit the "Stop" button

You can try the bellow instruction:-


1-press the "menu" key
2-press the"copy" key
3-press the"#" key
scroll thru the menu heading until you come to "counter"
press "ok"
press "menu"
and select "clear all" it will ask you to "please wait"
then press menu two times,restart your printer and it will work
.

E8 Waste ink absorber full, or platen waste ink absorber full WHAT MUST DO?


I am told that this will reset your counter and eliminate the full absorber warning that you are getting.

Cleaning the pads is messy, sending the printer to Canon is expensive,

I used a simular reset code for my MP470 and haven't had any problems.

1. To clean physical pads:
Open cover (as if replacing ink cartridge).
Locate waste ink pads, they are far right under cartridge slider.
Pry up waste ink pads (inky, might want to wear gloves).
Rinse pads in sink or with alcohol, dry.
Replace pads. Make sure pads are fully seated.

2. To reset waste ink counter:
Press Menu-Scan-Copy-Scan to enter service menu.
Use arrow keys to scroll to "Service menu counter access".
Press OK.
Use arrow keys to scroll to "ABS-M DOT COUNT"
Press Copy.
Use arrow keys to reset count to zero.
Press OK.
Press Stop/Reset.

Message-the waste ink absorber is almost full on pixma MP130


That is usually Canon's sneaky way of telling you that is nearing time to buy new printer. Used on older machines without chips on cartriges. After "almost full" msg, usually follows "waste ink tank full" after which printer becomes unusable. Solution: Google "waste ink tank full" reset tool and run it, that should do the thing.
