Question about LG L1204R Air Conditioner

Open Question

I have a new LG aircon wall unit and sometimes it sounds like its holding alot of water in the drain pan. I have it set up to what the manual said. but do not know if this sound is normal or not. So I was thinking about putting a drain hole in the bottom of it to help drain the water out better.

- Check your air filter at the indoor if clean.
- Check your evaporator fins if clean.
- Check if no icing in your evaporator and outdoor pipes.
- If your air filter and evaporator fins is clean and icing is present then your unit is under charge.
- When your indoor drips check your drain pipe if there are water comes out. If no water drain from your drain pipes then your drainage is restricted.
- Flush your drainage with water using your garden hose to flush out dirts from your drainage.

SOURCE: Installed an artcool in my appartment and it

first of all check the outdoor unit if it is in your reach  than simply touch both the valve & feel the temp if smaller valve is colder than the bigger one than surely the problem is with refrigerant quantity.

Loud noise coming from fan , alot of water coming inside instead of outside

The problem you're having is caused by the drip pan's drain being clogged near the rear of the unit and/or there is not enough downward tilt on the rear of the unit. 1/4" to 1/2 is the general rule of thumb for rear downward tilt. This allows the water to flow to the rear of the drain pan and out thru the drain hole. Instead of building up and overflowing the front of the drip pan. Be sure to turn the unit OFF & unplug it, before attempting to remedy the problem.

Correcting those to issues should solve the problem.

How to empty water intake

If you have an LG Portable AC Unit,. The drain plug is on the rear of the unit, just above floor level. To drain it, use a low sided pan capable of holding 1 quart of of water. Unscrew the drain plug and drain it into the pan. OR disconnect the unit and roll it to a floor drain or outside and drain it there.

I hope I was able to help you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Why does wall make ticking noise

Marvin, it could be water dripping into the drain pan under the unit or the metal of the outer shell is cooling off (metal stress). Also, is the drain pan is full the fan blades may be hitting the water, In which case the rear of the unit needs to be tilted down 1/4" to 1/2". So, the water will flow to the rear of the pan and out the drain hole. These sounds are normal and will do no harm. If you want to test this theory, turn the unit OFF & unplug it. If you still hear the ticking sound, it's one of the above.

Hope this helps & thanks for choosing FixYa.

THE AIR CONDITIONER LEAKS WATER FROM THE FRONT OF THE UNIT.

Look for the drain line coming out of the unit typically in the bottom. Clear out this drain line with a vacuum or water hose. It should begin to drain and stop leaking.

If the leaking continues, you may have a cracked drain pan or severe drain blockage.

Freezer door leaking alot of water on floor no ice on door

This really sounds like a plugged drain. When the unit goes into defrost the water should run down the drain into the drain pan...when the drain is plugged it will run over and down to the bottom of the freezer thus leaking out the bottom of the door and onto the floor. You will need to take everything out of the freezer and remove the screws that hold the back panel on break out the ice at the bottom and use hot water to pour down the drain to clear it.....also if you have a small hose to shove down the drain that will help out alot.

Water collects in the bottom of my LG LRTP1231W

Some units don't have a drain tube. The water flows down the back of the fridge into the bottom and it just makes a mess. It has been a problem ever since they started going "Energy efficient". The drain was a hole and they had to close the holes. If you're lucky enough to have the drain, it will be located inside the back wall of your freezer. The inside walls must be removed. The drain will be in the drip pan, below the freezing coils (fins) in the back of the freezer.

LG 18000 ac leaks water in the front of unit indoors.

Hi,

the drain pan is either clogged or the unit is not mounted properly. If the drain pan is clogged simply clean it and the problem goes away. In the case of the unit mounting, check the angle of the unit and the drain pan inside, if it tilted to the front even just a little then water would leak. the drain pan should lean toward the drain and away from the front.

I hope this helps.

A.C. unit

One of the cause of water dripping in the indoor is restricted drainage. To Identify if your drainage is restricted.
- Turn "off " the circuit breaker and take out the face cover of the unit.
- Turn "on" the circuit breaker and start the unit, wait until the unit drips.
- When the unit dripped check the drain pan if overflowed with water.
- If the drain pan is full of water you need to flush the drainage with water to remove the restriction. If the pressure of water in your area is high you can use your garden hose to flush the drainage.

Another is dirty evaporator fins (icing), dirty drain pan, broken drain pan or incorrect installation.

YOU CAN LOCATE THE DRAINAGE AT THE LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE OF THE DRAIN PAN
