Question about Sharp XE-A404 PC Desktop

1 Answer

The mode switch stays on X1/Z1, no matter how the mode key turns. We can not get REG anymore or void or PGM. We still can turn it off.

The units built in protection circuit might be faulty or needs resetting, this unit is operated by a rechargeable battery, try charging the batteries, you can do that by switching the mode switch to any position other than OFF, then plug in to ac outlet, charging the batteries may take up few hours up to two days, depending on batteries and their charge level,
for more info, try reading through here,

It would be upon your decision,

firstly replacing the battery would always be cheaper, but having it replaced would also mean you would be needing services from a tech. second thing for that is, the longevity that replacement or repair would be, on how long that would hold up.

next thing to consider is the switch, could be also be defective to some state, the factors I stated in battery replacement would also imply.

also, having or looking for replacement parts would be depending on your location, meaning availablity.

but there is always an option to ask the store or dealer from where you bought the unit for repairs,

Last is, as you said replacing the unit itself. Buying a new one would be good, but still repair would be cheaper, but then again, there are many factors to consider.

so the decision would be yours, consider all the factors I gave your versus financial aspects.

    Thank you for using

For parts, I have tried looking around since yesterday, for i thought you would ask, but unfortunately I did not find any, I guess the option for parts would be from electronics surplus in your area or the supplier or store from where you have bought the unit.

PP_0.00 is on the display screen The till stays on and inactive no matter where the key is

This sounds like a Royal. That's my best guess since you haven't told me what you have. PP means there is a printer problem. Look for a paper jam or any other reason why the printer motor can't turn.

Sharp ER-A330 cash register. Have to enter Cashier # every sale.

You might need a special key to program this change, but try this:
  1. Turn the key to PGM
  2. Enter 9910 . @/FOR CA/AT
If you don't get an error, you're done. Turn back to REG sign on one more time, and try two or more sales in a row.

If you get an error, this kind of programming is disabled in PGM mode. you may have to take it to a Sharp dealer who has a Service key. Your MA (Manager) key can get you to any position marked on the Mode Switch, but the SRV key goes to two more unmarked positions beyond PGM. If you have that key or find a dealer who has, turn it one notch past PGM (to 7 o'clock position).
Enter 910 . @/FOR CA/AT
[Yes, it's a different number than in PGM mode.]

If you ever want to make cashier entry compulsory again, do the same thing, except enter 100 just before touching the CA/AT button.

The reason Sharp doesn't pass SRV keys with its registers is that you can totally mess up your register if you make mistakes with this key. Don't experiment with it, or your only hope may be to wipe all machine memory to get it working again.

Sharp xe-a41s cash register mode switch stuck

Sounds like you have the wrong key. Look at the letters on the key tab. OP stands for OPerator; it can only move from Off to Reg. MA stands for MAnager; it can move to all the marked positions. Some models also have an SM (Sub-Manager) key that moves from PGM1 to X1/Z1.

My Sharp Cash Register (ER-A410) won't turn on in manager mode

It is usually caused by a faulty or dirty mode switch. The first thing to try is squirting a bit of electrical lube down the key hole (WD40 or similar works fine), then turn the key back and forth a few times. Otherwise, the contacts inside the switch may have failed. I have also had a loose connector on the main board cause this in another model, so you could try pushing the connectors inside and make sure they are tight.

Hope this helps. You can set the void button to work in REG mode if you don't want to get the MGR mode fixed. Just let me know and I can look up the codes for you. You should be able to refund items as well (unless this has been set work in MGR mode also).

Hi. It sounds like the guest check memory is full due to too many items in the tables. This is usually caused by people opening tables, filling them up and never finishing the table. The easiest way to overcome this is to reset all tables. Note: This will clear any current sales you have in tables, but should fix the error.
Turn key to X1/Z1 25 CASH CASH If it gives an error, then try 25 CASH 1 CASH It should print an open check/table report and show you which tables were taking up the memory. It will clear the sales out of those tables. Now turn back to REG mode and try it.
