First of all, you need to make sure your power adapter is providing enough power to both run the laptop & charge the battery. A very good way to do this is to compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements (written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage & ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same, or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery. Of course, the power adapter's nominal amperage might be ok, but it degraded on usage. You can verify this by testing using a good or new power adapter.
If the battery did not charge using the new power adapter, take the battery off the laptop, & using a dry tooth brush, scrub in between the fins of the battery connector on the motherboard & on the battery it self, then put the battery back into the laptop & try again.
If this still did not resolve the problem, then the battery itself could be bad. Try it on another laptop, or try a good or new battery in your laptop.
If this did not work, there might be a possibility that the charging circuitry on the laptop's motherboard is defective & needs servicing. In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether.

Battery are charged but won't turn on and it in lock mode

Regarding your question you could try a power discharge for your device:
- disconnect the AC adapter
- unplug the battery (if detachable)
- press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds (to discharge the components)
- plug the AC adapter only (without the battery if it is detachable)
- turn on the unit

If the battery is not detachable, please follow the procedure with the battery attatched.

- turn off the unit
- disconnect the AC adapter
- press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds (to discharge the components)
- plug the AC adapter
- turn on the unit

Hey looks like you might have a clogged venting port for your processor, or a bad driver for your video card. To fix the clogged port, disconnect the power and battery, get a vacuum with a plastic end and place it at the entrance of the port and if possible move it back and forth till you see the clog disappear or hear a small release. If its the driver then do the same by powering down and removing the battery. Using just the power cord reboot the computer with the original system operating disk in the dvd drive and either choose repair boot and or system. Good luck that should take care of it.

LCD monitor shuts down every after 2-3 seconds

dustcore025, Need a little more info here. Do you know age of monitor? Was it or did it display a "perfect' image on it the day before? Is it under warranty? How far are you willing to go to try and repair this thing? Do you know how to "part" the snap together plastic back cover from the bezel, after removing the pedestal? This sounds to me like a Switch-mode-power-supply or Inverter problem that occurs when some Electrolytic Filter Capacitors get a little bit TIRED of being constantly subjected to high temperatures near heatsinks that are used to keep semiconductors within operating limits. You can determine how bad this may be if you can do a test and remember what happens. Here is what to do. Make sure PC is fully booted displaying WIN desktop or some other screen. Next, with someone to keep hitting the CTRL or SP bar key every 20-40 seconds while you reconnect both cables of your MM17 back to the PC video port and ac outlet. Now try to turn on the monitor and note exactly what you see and for how long. Did it have a sharp clear image, even for 1-2 seconds? did the screen go black? OK! Next thing is to shine a bright flashlight onto the screen 2 inches away from where you know there was something a few seconds ago. Try it at different angles and not if you see anything. get back to me with results of test. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @ aol.com BYE for now.

Flashed the bios with wrong version PC is unusable

Hi, I dont like your chances a lot. Next to the cmos battery you will find a set of jumper pins [3 pins] move the jumper from where it is set onto the next pin and leave it there for at least 10 seconds then replace it back in its orriginal position. This will reset all the orriginal bios settings. If the update flash you have done doe's not allow this to reset, get onto the ASUS web site and ask for tech help, the response may be slow but this is your only option other than another mobo.
