Question about Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS / Digital IXUS 95 IS Digital Camera

1 Answer

A bright line that appears on all photos on the left-hand side. It can also be seen on the display window. It does not appear to be on the lens...it is more of a "light."

This is what is known as image distortion. It's most often the imaging sensor that's behind the lens. It's not expensive to have repaired but it will likely need replacing. A great place to have that exact problem fixed would be at: www.camerasandparts.com They only service canon powershot cameras and they have excellent flat-rate repair packages for all problems on these. Yours is listed on their site under their complete service and repairs. It's called a no image or a distorted image problem and it runs $79 for everything to have it repaired. They even include the other servicing for the camera plus a 90 day warranty on the whole camera and shipping on the way back is covered as well. They have great flat-rate pricing for fixing these, the best part is they known what they're doing. All they service are these little powershot cameras and they are great at that which is what I like best. Wishing you luck with it.

A line has appeared when i look through my lens and it appears on all of my pictures. Worried the camera has seen it's last day, i think my warranty is up too. Anyone have a similar problem?

What you're likely seeing it a foreign object that is on or has entered the camera lens.

If it is a dark curved line (as opposed to bright line) it may be a hair. It may appear out of focus or in focus depending on where it is and the distance to the focus point of the picture when taken.

This problem can be solved easily by a professional cleaning if you're unable to locate the source & remove it yourself (without the need to disassemble the camera). Cleanings are much less costly than repairs generally, but you should consult a reputable local camera shop and get an estimate for the work - or contact Canon technical support.

Image is bright but there is a slight issue - on the left hand side a purple line displays vertically. Anybody knows why is this fault appeared and how could it be solved.

There is three LCD in the projector red, green and blue. If green LCD make any fault mean line or dot or dots then screen show these line or dot in purple color:
If line is very straight and sharp edges then green LCD is faulty and need to be replaced.
If line is not straight and faded edges then some thing in LCD block so your projector need service

Blue vertical line on LCD screen

Thus meaning what display on the LCD is exactly what "enters" through the lens. Is this a hairline or thick line appearing on the LCD and does the same happen on the photos/pictures when they are downloaded on a PC? If so "something" could have infiltrated into/onto the camera lens....

Blue Vertical Line

It is sounding like when the laptop is turned on and heats up a bit, the line appears? Sounds like one of the panels is going bad or atleast has developed a problem. below are some tricks you can try to lessen the annoyance of the line. Dual-Scan STN displays are composed of 2 panels behind a single protective panel or screen. Because you are looking through the protective screen the display appears to be one large panel even though it is not. There is a physical separation line (gap) at the point where the two panels meet. When the computer is on and being viewed it is not unusual to see the visible separation line with the Dual-Scan STN displays. The line, actually the fine gap between the display panels, appears because the color and light pixels cannot run along the very outside edges of the panels. This line (gap) between the panels can be seen as a fine gray line and is most noticeable when viewing on a screen with a white or light background. Note the line may not be as noticeable when the screen is displaying certain colors or darker backgrounds. SUGGESTIONS: It is not possible to completely eliminate the line but there are some things you can try to reduce it's visibility. 1) Lower the display brightness/contrast. The brighter the backlight the more noticeable the line. 2) Use Wallpapers and Screen savers that use darker colors. 3) In the Control Panel/Display applet under appearance try different combinations of color schemes for your Window and Background choice Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
