Question about Computers & Internet

I inserted a CD in my CD burner of my MacBook Pro. I intended to burn it, but I got a message that there had been a communication problem with the CD and, therefore, it could not be burnt. That was it. The CD could not be ejected. I have turned off and on my computer several times, but no avail. The CD is still inside, and my computer cannot boot up. Help, please.

Thanks a lot for your help. However, I made a mistake. I just realized that my computer is a MacBook, not a MacBookPro. Please, help me again.

This is a hardware problem - the cd unit is defective. Since this is a Mac the only ones that can replace it are the Apple guys - you need to take the laptop to them.

Hello. There is a tiny hole on the CD door which you can insert a fine piece of wire into, as in a small paper clip wire. Do this to open the door and remove the CD.

Next remove the battery and unplug it for two full minutes. This will reset it and it should start up. J.

Target drive not ready

The burning drives are not recognizing the blank media.Try using all of the duplicator bays by burning to another drive bay. If all other drives burn fine then the one drive may need to be replaced.Try a different blank CD or using a different brand. The most common fault for this message is a bad blank disk. Finally clean the drive bays by using compressed air to blow any dust out of the system.

There may be something wrong with your CD drive. I would recommend going to the nearest apple store and having them fix it.

Similar problem except worse. Can't even burn anything. Furthermore, disks inserted in the drive are not appearing on the desktop or anywhere. The drive appears in disk utility. It also seems to cause a host of other problems, various burning applications are CRASHING and not even responding to force quit (haven't tried to kill from terminal yet). We've had to reboot several times.

So far experience is awful. Going to return this if it computer keeps crashing everytime the drive is plugged in.

Macbook wont work with freecom dvd lightscibe pro firewire

Hi:

I know exactly how you feel, since the lightscribe feature is great, but the lightscribe software is pc and not mac compatible, though the burner will work up til that point in the process on a mac.

I solved the problem by using an external dvd burner on a spare pc which will accommodate the installation software for lightscribe and burn and create and decorate the dvd.

I have yet to try a possible solution involving a Core Duo and combo Mac/PC Operating system since I still use an old iBook G4 to create videos but if your Macbook will accommodate both types of OS then you might try using the lightscribe software installation disk on your macbook in pc mode as a windows application.

Let me know if that works for you
