Question about Dell Studio 1737 Laptop

1 Answer

I have a Dell Studio 1735 laptop. The DVD RW drive has crapped out (that's the second one on this machine). I removed the old one and tried ordering a replacement from Dell, but they sent me a replacement that's thicker than my entire laptop. What do I need to specify for a replacement internal DVD RW drive? Is 1/2 height all I need, or is it something smaller?

How'd you get the drive out? I tried but wasn't sure where to turn after I pulled about a thousand screws.

Sorry, the optical unit has died. Don't even bother taking the disk out, it has been damaged anyway. Take apart the laptop and replace the dvd unit . If you have enough money you can even upgrade it to blu-ray.
