Closed captions come from one of two places:

In the set's menu look for it there and turn it off or other than CC!.

If you are using a box to provide signal to the set, it has this option also--look in that menu.

One of the two is causing the problem...let me know what you find.

If this helped you or told you something you did not know, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

Do not have a remote i have closed caption on the screen i can not get rid of it

Most cable remotes allow you to set many basic functions to somewhat control your TV with the proper code. They may not have all the capabilities of the original remote but CC is one that it should allow you to access.
Check your manual or instructions from the cable company or their website for instructions on how to do this with your remote and set.
It may take some time and the input of several different codes since all of the manuafacturers seem to love changing them from one model to the next.

Closed captions will not disappear

Some TV will not display close caption in HD mode. This is why its Grey out in HD mode. If you switch to regular input, i can bet you your close caption will not be Grey out. The problem you are having is your cable box has close caption enable. You must go into the cable box menu and turn caption off. In some box you may have to call your cable provide for assistant.
