Heat is blowing out but the drum is not spining

You broughtke the belt of drum wont turn you might take the dryer apart to make sure the idler pulley is spinning free also. They sometimes get tight and burn the belt up.

What makes unit vibrate?

Hello Kenny;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

That is a loaded question, not knowing what your model number is, and not knowing is you have a belt drum or direct drive with a transmission.
1.) You may have a component that is worn such as the drum idlers, the belt tensioner idler or the drum support rollers.
2.) You are more likely you have one or more components that are loose and require tightening, such as the drum idlers, the belt drive tensioner, the drum support rollers or the drive motor base.
3.) You may have a worn door/drum seal. It may have deteriorated in one section, creating a non uniform contact surface.
4.) If you have a direct drive dryer, then the problem will include the drive transmission.

I am sorry I can not be more specific. I need a model number, but these areas are general possibilities.

I replaced the belt and need to know how the tensioner goes back on

From the front with the belt around the drum in the correct position, and the drum in place. Reach in under the drum and put the belt around the pulley on the drive motor. Then find the idler pulley. It should be pulled to the base of the drier to the left of the drive motor pulley. Pull the idler pulley up and to the right and place it on the outside of the of the belt coming down from the drum to the drive pulley. It should pull back to the left and tension the belt.

Does a front felt bearing belt that sits at the front of a hotpoint machine drive the drum or would it be another belt?

No the drive belt sits around centre of the drum, you would need to remove the top of the machine to see the drive belt. The felt belt acts as a bearing and helps drum rotate quieter

Need to install belt drive process

If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
First you will need to unplug your dryer from the electric.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley.
While you have the drum out, I would also recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.
Good luck,
I hope this helps

Unsure how to access drier to put on new drive belt

Here is my own solution...
Disconnect from mains (of course) remove top (2 screws at back near top) Unplug electric connectors (on back panel, top RHS). Make sure note what goes where! Lie unit down on front remove screws (2) holding the drum spindle cover (centre of back) and remove cover pop off the circlip holding drum spindle, and washer unscrew back panel - hex headed screws round outside of back Remove screws at bottom of back panel which screw into the plastic vent housing (3 I think) Lift whole back off. (there's a plastic lip at bottom - need to pull away from this a bit) The drum spindle will be unsupported now, so don't move unit Full access now to drum and motor beneath Get and put on new belt reassemble.
Actually, having got into unit, found could not get belt from local spares shop (it had closed down), so bought new drier!

Motor runs but the drive drum that hold the sanding belt does not turn.

Instead of removing the drum, remove the belt and the cover over the gearbox. The gearbox cover is normaly fixed in place by screws around the drive pulley. There may be a couple of screws under the pulley, if so they can be accessed via holes in the pulley wheel itself. Check for worn or stripped gears. These gears can be replaced if need be, but if this is the case make sure you remove and clean out all the grease first and replace that aswell as it may contain bits of teeth that have come off the faulty gear. As far as I know belt sander drive rollers can not be removed without removing the drive inside the gearbox first.
