Question about NetGear - WG311 - 54Mbps 802.11g/b Wireless PCI Adapter (TGN1001486P)

1 Answer

I have a wireless network adapter. It's a netgear WG311v3 and I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit. I cannot figure out what's going on, both the netgear smart wizard, and my windows network connection in the bottom right hand corner say I'm currently connected to my network, access: local and internet. I'm getting a great signal, 4 out of 5 bars and occasionally jumping to 5. However it is very intermittent. Although it says I'm connected most of the time I try to open a webpage it will say connecting to the website/ waiting for reply then go to "problem loading page" It's completely sporadic though, somedays I'll be able to surf just fine for a good hour or two and then somedays I can't get online at all. I am clueless as to what can be causing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

COMPUTER WILL NOT DETECT ADAPTER

Remove adapter and uninstall any software you installed for it.
Restart the computer.
Go to Netgear's website and make sure that you download the driver that matches your adapter model number and the version of Windows you are running.
Be aware that many computers today run a 64-bit version of Windows and that you need to download the 64-bit drivers if you have this version. (This will help you figure it out: http://forums.techarena.in/tips-tweaks/962178.htm)
Install the software and DO NOT connect the adapter until the install prompts you to connect it or after you finish the install.

Please vote for my solution if it helps.

NETGEAR WG311v3 Wireless PCI adapter STUCK on scanning.

Hi
What you to do first verify that the device is installed properly for that ---

Go to Device manager-- click on Network adaptors -verify the your wireless adaptor is listed there without any yellow or red mark .If you see a yellow mark then you need to install and reinstall the adaptor

Second , You might see an icon for netgear adpaptor in right lower corner under taskbar and you need to Right Click on it , it will show you several options just look for use window to manage wifi or xp wifi client , like that .. sect that option ..

after that it will display a message wireless network detected , click on the messege , you will see your network . select and connect

Cannot connect to wirless with adapter on new computer

Although this model appears to support Windows Vista according to the manual for it (ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/WG111T_UM_04Feb07.pdf) the 64 bit version is not mentioned and, therefore, probably not supported. I'd take the wireless adapter back and find one that supports Vista 64 for certain. Some do.

Problem after I tried to run the file setup.exe

It seems your device is not compatible with 64 Bit operating systems, which you apparently have. If you are sure you do not have a 64 bit OS, then the driver may be faulty. You should be able to locate the driver at this site

If they do not list a 64-bit driver, you will need to try a different adepter.

Can't install on new computer

Are you running 64 bit Vista?

If so you will need 64 Bit drivers for the device

Download this file

http://www.dynexproducts.com/skins/skin_1/Topics/Drivers/DX-EBUSB_2.03.05_Setup.exe

DO NOT CONNECT THE DEVICE UNTIL IT TELLS YOU

When the windows warning pops up, Install the driver anyway. then connect the device, that should fix the problem It worked on my 64bit Vista Ultimate
