Push the up and down arrow keys on your remote simultaneously for at least 3 seconds to toggle between Fahrenheit and
Celsius units.

I've changed the batteries in BOTH remotes for out Vermont Castings Fireplace, and made sure the "remote control" setting is set on the fireplace itself Why won't they work with new...

Make sure the batteries are in correct and then I would be concerned with the send receive unit in the fireplace. Is it an IR remote (needs to be pointed directly at the receiving IR) . If that is the case then the IR receiver may be blocked or covered. If this is an RF remote then you don't need direct line of vision and I would look at the receive unit.

Vermont casting fireplace vcef33

You could take a table lamp or a drop light a electric drill or anything similar, and see if you can unplug the insert and plug one of these items in and see if the plug works
I am taking for granted that you can get to the plug without having to pull the insert out or at least not all the way out
If you can't do that
Turn the breaker off to that circuit pull the switch out and make sure nothing is touching
Hook a tester to the wires and then turn the breaker on and see
If you have power to that switch turn the switch off and on watch the meter and see if it does turn on and off
If you have power coming out of the switch.
and you can't reach the plug then you only option would be to pull the insert
As for a fuse there may be one but not look like what you are thinking a fuse will look like it is usually a temperature fuse that is shaped similar to a diode the symbol for it can be two ways
it could have what looks like a c laying on its side upright and also another c beside it on its side aiming down like a snake crawling. The other symbol looks like a rocket with no fins on its side with a with a what looks like a T laid sideways coming off one end

Fireplace remote control no longer works correctly

To re-sync your Honeywell 8220 transmitter to the valve: Turn the Local/Remote switch on your valve to Local. Then switch it back to Remote. Within 10 seconds of switching it to Remote, you need to press the Flame button on your transmitter. This will re-sync your transmitter to the receiver in the valve. Replacement transmitters and valves are no longer available for this system, they were discontinued by Honeywell and they are completely out of stock. Monessen Hearth Systems (now owns Majestic, Vermont, etc) has a retrofit kit with a new valve, pilot assy, and remote for these old RF units. (expensive, but cheaper than a new fireplace). FYI, aftermarket remotes are NOT compatible with this Honeywell system.

I have a Vermont Castings gas fireplace and a honeywell remote control. Recently the control developed an issue where it will not shut the fireplace off. I have to do it manually. It still turns it on...

It could be that your transmitter is bad. You may want to try to re-sync the remote to the fireplace. Slide the Remote/Local switch on your valve from remote to local, then back to remote. Within 10 seconds press the flame button on your transmitter. This will establish a new frequency connection between your transmitter and valve. Good luck!

Vermont Castings (honeywell) remote not turning on fireplace. I replaced batteries. Is there a way to reset?

Yes, you can re-synchronize the transmitter to the valve. Turn the switch on the valve from "remote" to "local", then switch it back to "remote". Within 10 seconds, press the flame button on the transmitter to re-establish the handheld remote to the valve.

I have a Vermont Casting (Honeywell) remote with 6 buttons. Ireplaced the batteries from the summer and it does not function. the Room Temp shows, the off signal shows and when you press the on button...

Hi,

It's unlikely that you need a new remote. It simply needs to be reprogrammed with the correct code again. Remotes can "forget" the programmed codes if the batteries run down completely or if the new batteries aren't inserted quickly enough.

Reprogram the codes and it should work.

Please post back if you need further assistance.

BElectric
