SOURCE: Kenmore series 70 electric dryer idler pulley

I figured this one out...there are two pairs slots...the tab of the idler pulley goes in the right slot near the motor and the idler pulley goes off to the left.

SOURCE: Drive belt comes off the rear pulley.

Hi, this is a easy solution. on your drive pulley, there should be three belt keepers to keep the belt from coming off. ( belt keeper is a 1/4" dia. rod that goes over the pulley)

SUBJECT: Traction belt jumps off the pulley.
SITUATION: Incorrect pulley alignment causes the traction belt to jump off, usually when the drive is disengaged or as a hill is crested.
CORRECTION:
1. Remove the belt cover, engine belt guide and the bolt securing the crankshaft pulley.
2. Remove the auger brake assembly.
3. Remove the crankshaft pulley and the auger belt.
4. On the left side of the machine, remove the hair pin cotter from the speed control link and slide the link out of the pulley pivot assembly. The traction belt can now be removed.
5. Shorten the pulley half nearest the engine (PN 106-7334) shown in Fig 1. Grind or machine 1/8” (.125”/3.2mm). from the hub end of the pulley. The new finished length of the pulley half should be 1.07” (2.7cm).
6. Chamfer the bore to ensure the pulley fully contacts the shoulder on the crankshaft. You can send the pulley to an outside machine shop if you do not feel that you can modify the pulley in house.
7. Reinstall the pulley with a new traction belt.
A. Chamfer edge after grinding/machining.
B. Remove 1/8”.
C. Masking tape used as a reference line.
8. With the engine off, engage both the traction and auger levers and inspect the alignment of both the auger and traction belt idler pulleys (Fig. 2). Since we have moved the crankshaft pulley it may be necessary to bend the idler arms slightly to center the belts. Adjust as needed.
9. Install the engine belt guide and test operate.
10. Install the belt covers.

Craftsman ltx 1000 18hp tractor will no longer go forward but runs normal in reverse

First replace the drive belt. (1/2 x 82-1/4) and the V-idler pulley if plastic, Reverse doesn't load the belt as much as forward drive. The reason I suggest replacing the V-idler too is that the plastic wears heavy and the drive belt bottoms out causing slippage.

Then if it doesn't drive forward then you most likely have a bad transmission.

I need a schematic for installing a cub cadet LT1050 drive belt. The old belt broke and I'm just not sure how to replace it. It appears you need to remove the clutch for the mower blade firat.

To replace a transmission drive belt on a Cub Cadet LT1045 or LT 1050 you need to remove the deck, preferably put the front wheels up on blocks or stands, unplug the PTO power (directly under the engine, which can be a pain ), use an impact wrench (you need the speed of the impact wrench because the engine will turn) and a 5/8" socket and reverse the bolt out of the PTO.

The PTO may be sized on there so you may want to tap it with a hammer and a block of wood carefully to release it. AT this point remove the 4 engine mount bolts from underneath (1/2" I believe). You will need to remove the left steering nut and arm to have access to the 4th bolt. Do not remove or replace engine mount bolts with impact wrench or bolts may break. Loosen old belt from tensioner pulley. Place pry bar under engine to slightly lift engine and move aft to expose belt from pulley and remove from pulley. Remove old belt from engine pulley first, transmission pulley last. Remember how belt goes around pulleys before doing so, draw a map if needed.

You'll need to put the belt on the transmission pulley first then thread the belt up to the engine pulley. Carefully push engine back into place and exhaust pipes into forward muffler will take some patience. Bolt engine back on being careful not to over tighten bolts. Place steering arm and nut back in place. Thread your belt back through the pulleys and tensioner (make sure your spring is strong enough to tension the belt or buy a new one).

The PTO is "keyed" on the shaft. Replace bolt and washer. Put your deck back on and you're ready to mow again. Give yourself an hour for this one.

Installation of motor drive belt on cub cadet tractor

This one's a PITA. That said, I had to remove the PTO clutch and pulley, the seat, the brake and transmission pedals, and finally the sheet metal that constitutes the fenders and foot plates.

Belt is put over the fan above the transmission and onto the pulley there, then run along bottom of main frame towards the front until it reaches the engine drive shaft.

The belt goes onto a pulley on the engine drive shaft (above the PTO clutch and pulley, which have to come off). I couldn't slide the drive pulley down the shaft, so pulled the 4 engine mounting bolts and move the engine around slightly to allow putting the new belt on between the pulley and it's surrounding sheet metal. Once the belt was on, and before any other steps, I realigned the engine mounting holes and replace the bolts.

The belt is then run around the pulleys under the middle section of the tractor. Leave the spring loaded idler pulley for last. you might need to loosen (not remove) the bolt that goes through the idler pulley in order to get the belt on. The biggest fight is pulling the spring loaded pulley over so that you can put the belt onto it.

Once the belt is fully routed over all pulleys. Reinstall everything that you had to remove - and you should be good-to-go.

ONE LAST COMMENT: Many shops sell belts that DON'T have Kevlar. Make sure you but the one WITH Kevlar. The others rarely last one season.

How to put on drive belt onmy mower

Based on experience with MTD and AYP products: 1) remove mower to deck belt, 2) remove deck, 3) have helper press brake pedal down which puts slack in drive belt, 4) pull drive belt first from front engine pulley or rear transmission pulley then remove entirely. Reinstall in reverse order.

CAVEATS 1) If a pulley is grooved then the narrow part of the belt goes into it, if the pulley is flat then most likely the back of the belt goes against it in a tensioning function. 2) There are often guides or keepers which hold the belt in place, these can be hard to see and if the belt is not routed inside them it may well not work or hop out under load.

MTD riding mower does not move forward or reverse.

this is a belt driven transmission. from the engine driven pulley going aft towards the xmission differential there is another smaller variable speed pulley, there is a long belt between these two, from the variable speed pulley there is a larger xmission pulley that sits kitty-corner to it with a belt between these two. This larger "xmission pulley" is what drives the differential and depending upon which gear you have selected, makes it go forward or reverse. Check that both belts between pulleys are on, check that pulley's hardware is completely secured (nuts tightened down) The heads of these pulley's are splined to align to the shaft(s) and if they aren't tight, they will just spin and not engage the transmission. If your battery is under the seat, remove it and you should be able to see and access the aft pulleys. If both belts are on and engaging the pulley's and the shaft is turning on the transmission pulley than you have transmission differential failure. Bet it's the belt off or pulley head loose. Good luck, hope this helps

Ak38001 admiral washer need to replace drive belt

To change the drive belt you must unplug the washer and lay it forward on its front. Put some cardboard down so not to scratch the paint. Remove the two screws holding the rear panel and remove panel. Undo two bolts holding the pump on. There are three bolts holding the transmission into the washer. Locate the one bolt which has a spacer between the transmission and the post under the transmission. Remove the silver spring at the corner of the transmission. Remove the belt from the large silver pulley.
You will notice the part with the two coils called the wig wag. Under the left coil is a flat shaft. Rotate the large pulley to advance the flat shaft till its as far forward as possible. Insert a large screwdriver into the slot of the flat shaft until it comes out of the vertical shaft that it is inserted into by rotating the pulley with the screwdriver inserted into the slot in the shaft. Drop the vertical shaft till it almost comes out of the slot of the transmission it is inserted into. Tap the gray yoke off the top of the vertical shaft to allow enough room to slide the belt out. Slide the belt from where you removed the transmission bolt and spacer. You should now be able to remove the belt.
Slide the new belt through the space where the bolt and spacer was removed.
Slide the belt through where the vertical shaft was lowered.
Position the belt around all pulleys except the pump pulley.
Reinstall the transmission spacer and bolt.
Reinstall the flat shaft through the vertical round shaft by lining the flat shaft with the slot in the vertical shaft and rotating the large silver pulley until the flat shaft goes all the way through the vertical shaft.
Tap the yoke back into the top of the vertical shaft with the white plastic clip.
Reinstall the spring.
Line the pump pulley behind the belt and make sure the pump activator is positioned into the groove of the flat shaft controlled by the wig wag.
insert the two pump bolts.
You should be ready to go.
