A good place to look would be www.crucial.com that is where I get all of my memory.

Here is the website for information on your systems memory.

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11632_na/11632_na.HTML#Memory

Looks like you are looking for PC2100 PC2700 or PC3200 DDR Ram, Best Buy or Circuit City may even have what you are looking for. CompUsa may also be a good choice, as well as www.newegg.com which has very good deals on alot of computer hardware.

Hope this helps to solve your problem, Good Luck!

My compaq presario V2000 has frozen after I loaded an antivirus

Freezing is usually a symptom of failing ram. Your motherboard could also be the culprit. It is tough to effectively diagnose because memory and systemboards work so closely together. Cheapest thing to try is replace the ram, and since you are buying ram, go ahead and buy a larger amount. Install 1gig instead of 512 meg. (make sure your pc can use the memory upgrade). Replacing the ram with new ram will let you know that the memory is new, and if the issue persists, you know it is not the ram. If the issue persists after replacing the ram, that means you should replace your system board.

The memory may not be compatible depending on the speed. Try taking out all the memory and just installing the 1Gig stick.. does it work?

If it does then the 1Gig stick is fine, but your PC probably doesn't like you mixing different types and speeds of memory.

If it doesn't work, the 1gig memory module might not be the correct speed your PC wants.

I need to update my video card for my Sony Vaio VGC-RB30. This is what is in there now: Intel® 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family Graphics Controller Driver. My poor little computer can't...

The computer uses an internal video chip which also taps the main PC memory (DDR 400MHz SDRAM).

I would look at upgrading the RAM if the PC has less than 1gig of RAM in it. I suspect it only has 256 or 512mb in it.

To find out, just right click on the my computer destop Icon and choose (left click) on properties. It should list the ram with the chip speed with the words "of Ram" after it.

I want to expand my memory, so I went to Fry's with my computer model number and bought a 1Gig memory card, brought it home and the pin configuration doesn't match. The one I bought has two rows of pi

Go to http:\\www.pby.com and look at the memory configurator. You will be asked about your system (make and model). They will then advise you of the specific part number for your memory. Keep in mind, you should never expand upon existing memory. It is always better to replace the memory completely so you don't have to deal with any manufacturing conflicts. Take your new found part number and plug it in at amazon.com

To replace 1 GB of memory completely should cost about $45.00 USD.

Memory upgrade problems

Try maxing out at 2 gigs and try again. It is possible that the motherboard can not address more than 2 gig. If that is the case, the extra gig will respond at the same time as another 1 gig set causing confusion to say the least. I can provide more details if required.
