cannot get online meaning you cannot browse? what browser have you tried so far? do you have a messaging software for example yahoo messenger or skype & can you use this on the wireless connection? what OS are you using on the PC. any inputs will be valuable in giving you the resolution thanks!

Hi

it may be a problem with the ip address
try this

go to start>control panel>network and internet>network connection/network and sharing center.

for XP:
right click wireless network connection>go to properties>highlight internet protocol (TCP/IP)> click properties> make sure that both radio buttons are on Obtain..

for Vista:
go to Manage network Connections ( on the upper left-hand cable ) > right click wireless network connection>go to properties>highlight internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)> click properties> make sure that both radio buttons are on Obtain

Desk top/ethernet to linksys router not recognizing.

First connect that desktop to linksys with ethernet cable.
then set ip property to network adapter .
Set ip address ,subnet mask and gateway ip to ip property.
Set ip address as the ip of network like if router ip is 192.168.1.1 so set ip like 192.168.1.15
set subnet mask as same as your other computer.
Set default gatway ip as your router ip.
Then you can connect internet.
Let me know if you need more assistance.

Thanks.

Hi,
what is the wireless status in system tray? is it local or local and internet.
1. first check if it works fine with wire conection or not.
2.if it fine with cable then issue is with wireless. probably issue with Wireless security key.
3. go to available wireless networks and select the net work, if it is asking for wireless key please enter that. if you donot remember that perform router reset.that takes care of it.

Loss of internet connection to desktop with WRT 160 N

If you do this and post the results I can tell you how to configure the router as you do not need the domain:-

1. connect to modem with an ethernet cable, without the router
2. assuming it's windows, start --> control panel --> Network Connections --> double click on the Local Area Connection --> Click details and post ip address, subnet, default gateway and both dns servers

Wireless local only

You should try to uninstall and reinstall the driver for your wi-fi adapter on your laptop. Also, you can try to connect to a different wireless network like a hot spot or coffee shop for you to determine if the router is faulty or the built-in wi-fi adapter of your laptop.

Cannot connect my wireless laptop. my desk top works upstairs but not my wireless laptop. can you please hellp me. My address is lucent11@tconl.com OR lucent11@peoplepc.com Thankyou Philip Avino

Hi Philip, Is the desktop PC you have upstairs hooked up to the network via a cable or is it also wireless ? Do you have a wireless access point router ? If so, what is the supported IEEE Standard...
Wireless means you don't have to hook up to a network via a cable, but you do have to have a Wireless Router hooked up to the network to enable you to transmitt and receive a signal to your wireless products.
