Hi Jan, you can try removing the RTC battery for 5 minutes and see if that clears the password.

You can do this by turning the laptop upsidedown with the hinges away from you. Next remove the main battery and unplug your laptop from the wall.

Now you'll need to remove the hard drive access panel its a large rectangular panel located near the bottom right corner of the laptop. Once the panel is removed you'll see your hard drive and to the left of the hard drive you should see the battery it will have two wires coming off and going into a plug on the board. Unplug the battery from the board and wait 5 mins, then plug it back in.

Your password should now be cleared.

Strange, it should of cleared. You took out the main battery too right, because if the main battery was still in the laptop then there would still have been power to save the bios information.

Your next step is to try some backdoor passwords CLICK HERE

Really not sure, I mean removing the RTC should of cleared, I got that direct from the v3000 service manual. You can download it yourself HERE The section about reseting the password is on section 1.2, which is page 12 of the pdf. Good luck.

You can't remove it by taking out the battery, it's protected. The only way to take it out is to do an offline BIOS upgrade and that can be done only at a service.

Presario v3000

one way is bypassing. which can be done at chip level servicing only.

else there is a option like we can use any tool like ERD.. but we cant assure that u will get solved by that method.

only sure shot method is chip level servicing.

so u should take it to company(if with in warranty) else take it to some local service centers.

2 ways, method will vary according to motherboard...

1. locate and change bios reset jumper on motherboard to reset bios
2. unplug computer and remove lithium battery which supplies bios power.

There are also utility programs which can reset password, as well as common backdoor passwords used by bios manufacturers.

Compaq presario v3000

Hello,

If you know how to open a laptop and access the board you only need to disconnect the battery power connector from the board and leave it off for a minute or so.

Laptop batteries that keep the bios powered and retain the time/date and of course passowrds look different than a tower pc. They are usually a long round cigar shapped unit about 2-3 inches long with a power wire set and a connector that goes to your board. Naturally, the look and shape does vary a lot and so don't expect yours to look exactly as I described.

When you reconnect it and put the keyboard, etc.back on power up and enter Setup. You will need to reset the time and date and configuration options that suit your needs.

Hope this fixed ya!

Try the default BIOS Passwords for your model of motherboard.

Otherwise your only hope is to complete disassemble the laptop and drain the battery.
