It seems my pioneer prs x720 won't ground out to my frame on my car, i have the power 12v wire connected striaght to the battery. Would it be the fuse on that wire? or would it be just because it's not grounding?

The ground is the most important part of a car system. you should always ground directly to the frame and on a piece of bare clean metal...sand thepaint off if necessary. if not that check the fuse on the power wire if its a glass tube fuse it may have abad connection tht you cannot see under one of the end caps. go with a maxi or anl fuse!

Use a 12V test light to check. Clip the ground lead of the test light to the FRAME - not the ground wire of the socket. Probe the socket and wires. If no lights, follow the power wires back and test w/ probe until you find power. If it DOES light with the clip on the FRAME, place the test light clip on the 12V (+) terminal of the battery. and probe the GROUND wire of the socket back until it lights - this is the last place the GROUND connection is good. You should fix the break or cut the dead side of the wire and tie it to a good ground to get the headlight to work again.

DEH-15UB

hi brian, the remedy to your problem is simple. your power wiring from the unit has been incorrectly connected to the vehicle. from the unit connect the yellow wire "directly" to the battery +12v positive line, and the red wire to a "swiched" +12v positive position on the ignition barrel, OR the yellow and red wires can be joined together directly on the battery +12v positive line. also make sure that the ground connection is 100% secure. cheers.

I have a pioneer avh-p2300dvd in my car and i hooked up the parking break input to +12 volts because i want to be able to watch dvd's while driving(for my son in passenger seat) now my screen is stuck...

The parking brake (light green) connection needs to be connected to a (-) ground (black) wire, not a +12V wire. While it won't damage the unit to put +12V power to that wire, it does need to see a (-) chassis ground to view video while in motion. If changing this wire to ground still doesn't offer the solution, your Pioneer may require wiring of a relay as is necessary on several newer Pioneer navigation units.
Some Pioneer radios will still not allow video to be viewed even if the parking brake wire is grounded. For these units, I recommend using a standard 12V automotive relay (Bosch type). I would recommend consulting a professional installer if you are unsure about wiring this relay. Otherwise, if you are comfortable/knowledgeable, the instructions for wiring the relay are as follows:
85 - chassis ground86 - Blue/white stripe (remote turn-on lead from Pioneer)87 - chassis ground30 - Light green (parking brake lead of Pioneer)
The wiring of the relay will cause the parking brake lead to see the ground wire at the same time that the Pioneer actually powers up. This delay can be necessary for viewing video. An optional timing device can be wired in to do the same function such as PAC electronics' PTR-7.
The message that you are receiving for "screen image may appear reversed" is typically only visible when a reverse camera is used. For this, the Pioneer has a separate purple/white stripe wire for +12V reverse input.
I hope that this information was helpful.- Elliot

Which wire serves as the memory for a switched installation of a Pioneer DEH in dash stereo?

The yellow wire should be connected to unswitched +12V (always powered on) to keep the memory settings.

Black should be ground, and red should be +12V switched power.

Trying to install pioneer cd player in street rod.

You need:

a 12v + source from the battery (yellow wire)
a 12v + switched with the key (red wire)
a Ground (black wire)

then you need your four speakers hooked up, i'm unsure of the color codes on them but they are usually pairs i.e. green and green with black stripe for one speaker white with black stripe for another etc.

other wires such as illumination (orange) and power antenna (blue) are optional

the illumination (orange) you would connect to 12v + from a headlight switch and it would cause the unit to dim when you turned your headlights on

The power antenna (blue) is used, as the name implies to control a power antenna if you have one, or more commonly as the signal to turn an audio amp on (on the remote connection)

Hope this helps

No power to my pioneer gm5300t

arcanum,

good day bro, from your Pioneer amp supply line do you also see a terminal marked as " System controller" ? did you also supply 12V DC to this terminal?

the standard power configuration for Pioneer Car amps would be:

12V Dc (+) supply / ( - ) supply ground / System Controller ( supplied by +12V DC)

12V ( + ) supply and The ( - ) supply ground is for stand by power, once you connect the supply through this terminal you will now have the stand by power but will not power on the unit even the LED power indicator.

System controller terminal, this should be supplied by ( + ) 12V line to power up the amp. this serves as the ON/OFF switch for the amp.

cheers,
mark

Pioneer prsx720 wiring question

If the subs are dual 4 ohm voice coils, you could hook the DVC's of each sub in parallel ("+"'s together, "-"'s together) making each sub essentially 2 ohms. Then connect one sub to each channel of the amps. This will put about 200W on each sub.
