I use a dremel with a sharpening stone, if u don't have one you can also use a power drill with a small sanding disk (1 inch) and course sand paper (30 or 40 grit). or you can use a bastard file. its too tight to use any kind of angle guide so just take your time and do it by eye. it shouldn't take much to get them sharp enough to do the job, over-sharpening is unnecessary and dangerous, and will make the blades dull faster. sharpen all the free blades, top and bottom, then start the trimmers to advance the blades to free up the sides you couldn't get. i use a light penetrating oil to clean the blades first, then lithium grease spray to lubricate.

You may have a piece of metal between the moving blade and the stationary one. Also the motor may have been at the top of the stroke when it stopped. You may be able to "force" the blade to move a little. This may free it enough to work.

I have an electric Bosch hedge trimmer, new ish. Just caught it on some metal, now it is making a high pitched noise and starts to smoke if I continue to use it. Have I wrecked it?

Sounds like a bearing is stuck and overheating when you use it. If you can get to the bearings, spray some lube in them like PB Blaster, and see if that helps. It's also possible that the blades are binding and causing the motor to overwork and the brushes are cooking. One or the other.

Electric hedge cutter, blaDES STICKING,hit them and they go again, plenty of power in the motor but blades sticking getting worse all the time

Could I suggest maybe using some dry lube on the blade surfaces, such as graphite or anti-seize compound? It can only help. I also recommend maybe a close inspection of them to identify the bind point and why they are binding at that point.

My Hedge trimmer will start and run for 2 or 3 minutes, then it dies and will not start again until the next day. Any ideas what is wrong?

Withou make and model it's tough to be accurate so I'll need to make a presumption that it's electric.

First clean the blades thoroughly then spray them liberally with a light oil like WD40

It sounds like the blades are binding and causing a thermal shutdown of the motor. Allowing it to sit over night resets the thermal circuit breaker

My B & D electric hedge trimmer blades are frozen

spray liberally with wd40, let side and hour spray rag with wd40 and clean blades and look for any bent teeth in blade that maybe binding them as u clean use pliers and screwdriver to move if any found, it is likely that wither sap dried or rust formed and is creating too much friction for blades to move wd40 will help free up blades
