If the wireless light is not ON,does that indicate that this router is not sending a wireless signal? and if so how this can be resolved?

Yes, it means that the router is not sending a wireless signal.. You will have to follow the instructions in the manual that came with your router to enable wireless transmission.

How to improve signal strength on a wireless network

The success of a wireless network depends on the signal strength. A strong signal is required so all networking devices can communicate with each other. A weak signal causes low bandwidth preventing communication between hosts and causing network disruption.

Pay attention to router placement. It should be away from walls, floor, and glass and metal objects, all of which disturb wireless signals. If possible, place the router in a central location.

Change your router's standard antenna to use a high-gain antenna that sends signals in one direction. This way signals can be focused in the required direction. Standard antennae send signals in all the directions, which may not be desirable especially if the router needs to be placed next to a wall.

Use a wireless repeater, the device that enhances range of a wireless network.

Change the channel on which the router is functioning. Similar to radio stations, routers function on different channels one of which may give better performance than the other.

Ensure the network card installed in the hosts is capable of receiving and sending signals to the router. In this respect, using equipment from one manufacturer is better.

Check the vendor's site regularly for latest updates, performance enhancing tips and fixes.

if you need more information regarding improvement of wireless network, visit THIS site.

My router is not sending a wireless signal but my internet is on

Unless you have a meter that detects wireless signals, you cannot be sure that your router is not sending out a signal. If you access the configuration utility for the router using your web browser and the gateway IP address, you can nose around inside of the router and determine if wireless is on or off. If you see the SSID on your computer and it will not connect then it is most likely a problem with your computers' configuration. If you don't see the SSID it is either checked to not broadcast, wireless is turned off, or you router is defective.

Hi,
Connect a laptop wired to the N300,
If you cn go online it aint a router issue
Second try going online with a laptop
Third check the Signal Type
B/G/N
Keep it to automatic
Disable Router PIN
Try Different Security WEP/WPAPSK/TKIP

I have a dlink router and it won't send out a wireless signal

what was the router previously connected to? cable modem, adsl? What messages do you get? do your computers connect to the router but not the internet?

It sounds like you have to reconfigure the connection protocols on the router but for starters power everything down then turn on the hardware one by one starting with the one nearest the supply, eg, cable modem, then router, then PC. This will ensure its not just a simple ip issue.

Need to know all the product numbers and make hardware involved, to give a step by step guide

The router is not sending out a signal for my laptop to pick up. What are some possible soultions for this issue?

If you can access the router setup page, change the wireless channel to a higher value and save the settings and then check if the router will be sending the signal fine now but if still not reset the router by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds while power is ON and then check if the signal is showing now...

Router randomly stops sending out wireless signal

You may be getting interference from other routers in your area.
Check to see what channels the other routers are broadcasting in your area, change it to a channel that is not being used.
The location of the router could affect the signal strength, move the router away from concrete reinforced walls etc, and or move the router to a higher position in a clear space.

How do i hook up a westell router to a moterola comcast modem?

Okay, well something is obviously wrong.
This is how it should be connected. Internet to modem, then with an Ethernet cable, connect the modem to the router (jack1) then with another Ethernet cable, connect the router (jack2) to the computer.
If you are still having problems, then contact your company to see if they could walk you through it, or if they needed to set things up.
Also, where are you connecting your laptop from? Is it very far from the router? Perhaps your router's signal strength isn't great enough? (This would mean getting a new, more powerful router.)
