Question about Ripcord Games Armor Command for Windows
WinXP SP2:I've tried other systems too with no luck either. However, I've had this working (almost properly = every once in a big while it would hang and reboot was the only recourse) using an Intel D845GEBV2 motherboard with a 2.0GHz intel P4 w/ 1GB ram. I've found that the trick is the AGP card. The system stayed up long enough to play for hours. I had a Rosewill AGP Radeon ATI 9200SE video card. Apparently the 'rage' :) was AGP at the time this game hit the streets (1998) and this game is very AGP touchy.
I've also tried to run this on my P4 641 OC to 4.0GHz with 2GB ram with a Sapphire Radeon 9600 Atlantis AGP 8x video and ... no go. Similar issues with hand and config.
Right now I have it working on a just built Seattle 2 PII 440BX ATX motherboard (aka MICRON PC). It has a PIII @ 650MHz and 768MB ram. Boot to MS-DOS or Win98SE2. The video card on this one is an ATI Rage Mobility-L. A dinky little card, you can find one easily on EBAY for really cheap, but mine (bought on EBAY years ago for like $48) was out of an older MICRON system (not this Seattle 2 MB). Works fine. Really had to look on web hard to find a video driver for it ...This config also works great for these DOS games that I miss ... DOS Protected mode box within Win98 works perfect for Commander Keen and the original Duke Nukem!
