I m using intel pentium 4 processor with 256 MB of RAM and 80 GB HDD. I hv installed windows XP home edition. my pc takes atleast 20 - 25 minutes to start up n aftrr that also it hangs frequently.....
Okay, first off, I would get more RAM... 256mb is not very Windows-friendly. I would not have less than 512mb and 1gig is your best bet. Next, it could be your hard drive is going bad. Usually when a hard drive stalls like that, it is having read/write problems. The first thing to do is get off all of your important data, then set about trying to solve the problem. If you can, download this free utility to see if S.M.A.R.T. is enabled and if it is, what message it give you about your drives health.
Download the third piece of software. http://www.panterasoft.com/download.html
For XP, it is recomended to have at least 1 GB of RAM to run it properly. It will run with a minimum of 512 MB of RAM, but very slow.
