I have a single phase copland compressor NEW ( AG133ET-001)that i just replaced. i wired common leg from contactorsT3 to compressors T3(common winding,From contactors T1 to compressors T2(Run winding?) from T1 on the contactor to the run cap, from other side of of run cap to T1 on the compressor(start winding?) The parts house told me it does not take a star cap or relay The NEW compressor trys to start but trips overload after about 5 seconds, pulls near lock rotor amps.Slight hum.Does anyone know if I am correct on my wiring at the compressor T2=run T1=start T3=common If I am right where should i go from here? Is the compressor locked up? Thanks for any help that can be given.

You will have to look at the schematic for this theirs different units that wire different way but that sounds correct the way you have it you can double check reverse the start and run always write this down when doing these the supply house can help you to be sure just ask them say hay the diagram has worn away what is t1,t2,and t3 double check your cap it could call for a different size all compressors that ive seen does take a start capacitor some even require start assist kits unless they are three phase what is this compressor going on email me I will help you more and even call my supply house if need be pendletonheatandair@hotmail.com

How do i rewire a broomwade 3 phase compressor 1970

Rewire for ?? High voltage motor wiring is L1-T1, L2-T2, L3-T3, T4-T7, T5-T8, T6-T9. Low voltage is L1-T1-T4, L2-T2-T5, L3-T3-T6. The motor protection overloads will need to be sized accordingly, to the motor's FLA ( full load amps) for the voltage used. The control needs to be looked at also, if there is a control transformer, the transformer needs to be wired or repaced for the new supply power voltage used.

SINGLE PHASE WIRING DIGRAM

You need a single phase motor to do that. A 3 phase motor cannot be made to run on one phase.

Wiring diagram for 230v

Single phase motor for 230V, connect T4 and T5, to one line. T2, T3, T8 common connected. T1 to other line. Check Rotation, This should be for CCW rotation facing output shaft. Swap T5 and T8 for CW rotation.

How many amps does it pull?

If you mean 220 volts then I will guess 30 amps each leg. If you are doing wiring consult local building inspectors, hire licensed electricians. Fire hazard is high if wire gauge does not match amperage load.

Compressor won't switch on, have tried reset switch and circuit breaker, but though the wall unit comes on the compressor wont..anything I can do? This has three phase power Mitsubishi..Mr Slim

If you have any experience in working with electrical systems, you can, but if not you should call a service technician.
First being very careful, check to make sure contactor is engaging.
Then check to see if you have the same voltage across all three wires on the compressor side of the contactor, assuming this is 230 volts, check T1 to T2 should have 230 volts, then check T2 to T3 should have 230 volts then check T1 to T3 should have 230 volts. If you have 230 volts to all 3 wires then the compressor is bad probably an open winding and needs replaced. Before replacing the compressor you need to check the resistance (with an ohmmeter) between all 3 terminals at the compressor. In order to do this you need to disconnect all power to the unit and ohm the compressor terminals from T1 to T2, T2 to T3 and T1 to T3 they should all have the same resistance if they do then the windings are good and the compressor is locked up, if one of the the windings is different then the windings are bad, either way the compressor needs replaced.

Compressor winding problem

A 3 PHASE COMPRESSOR THAT LOOSES A LEG WILL NOT RUN. SO BE SURE YOU HaVE all 3 legs and check the legs across to each other with your vom, and then to ground. any leg not showing up for the compressor wires may indicate you need a NEW CONTACTOR. Check this and see if you get the same readings.

Voltage 1phase or 3 phase 240 volts BTUs M# 585epo36o75

Looking at the model number, it appears to be a 3 ton. (36,000 btu) Most all residential units are single phase and most all commercial are 3 phase. One way to tell, look to see if the compressor has a capacitor. 3 phase never use capacitors on the compressors as they are not needed. Some residential units have a "Dual" capacitor. That is, it has 3 terminals, 1 common, 1 for condenser fan motor, and 1 for the compressor. Also, this info should be printed on the unit's lable.
Good Luck and hope this helps.

Replace contactor

On single phase your incoming power lines go to L-1 & L-2, the lines to the compressor go to T-1 & T-2. With A/C current it does not matter which one goes to which side as long as the line goes to the L side and the compressor power lines go to the T side. As long as the coil voltage is correct any contactor will replace the original.
