My mp3 player froze and i cannot reset.

You have to connect it to the computer and try to format it.
To reformat your Philips GoGear, you've to start WMP(WindowsMediaPlayer10series, than click on the button synchronize. At the top of this window is a button at the right corner which commands the formation.
BUT in case the computer is not detecting and nothing is helping then try this procedure as follows:---

Follow these steps exactly:

1 Reset your player first by inserting a pin or sharp
object into the reset hole at the back of the player.
2 Launch Philips Device Manager from Start > Programs >
Philips Device Manager. Select the Repair Tab.
3 While pressing the Vol + on your device, connect it
to the PC.
4 Confirm Yes when you see the screen , you can release
the Vol + now.
5 Choose your device name (SA5245/37) in the box.
6 After the repair completes , click OK and continue using
your player as usual.

If still the same problem then its a problem with internal inbuilt battery. For this the unit needs to be disassembled but its not easy.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

I am using philips gogear 2gb mp3 player, the problem is, the mp3 player is fully charged by an external usb charger but still it doesnt turn on. i heard that restoring to factory default setting would...

well i guess the device manager provided by Philips is a little bit crappy..personally, i tried several times with my device and it didnt recognize my device at all. until i tried to call the support centre, they provide me the solution. it s all abt the steps in doing the repair.
1) open device manager
2) press the vol key (mine is the vol key, i know this varies from models to models, maybe you have to check) and dont switch on the device --

I have a rock chip mp4 and it will not charge and/or start HOW DO I FIX IT PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had this exact same problem with my rock-chip based MP4 player; the Pure P970. Several dedicated USB chargers were used to try to charge the unit to no avail, and no pin-hole exists on this model for a hard-reset, however it was found that the P970 can be reset, thus solving the "dead player" problem, by simultaneously depressing the "vol" button and sliding the power/hold switch to the on position for the normal period of time it takes to switch the unit on during ordinary operation. Voila! The unit resets and all is well again!

Device manager wont detect my gogear HDD1630/17 even though i recently updated the software and driver, also my device is frozen on "Please connect player to pc". I can't even get it back to the menu...

I was experiencing this similar problem, and from my research so were alot of other people, what finally worked for me was this:

  • Update all the software on your computer via Phillips site
  • Open the Philips Device Manager
  • With the device connected and the 'connected to pc' screen showing on the GoGear, do a 'soft reset' by holding the Power Off + Volume Up buttons for a few seconds
  • As soon as the device restarts itself, hold the Volume Down button, the computer should now recognize the GoGear
  • Follow the onscreen directions to Repair the device
  • Thank the intarwebs.

Go Gear Not Responding

Open up the device manager program.

Push the reset button on the device with a pin.

Press and hold the Vol + button whilst plugging into the PC.

Device Manager should go into repair mode.

Follow the on-screen prompts.

When finished, disconnect usb and reconnect quickly. Player should say loading, and then go into transfer mode.

Disconnect and reconnect player again. Screen should say
Updating.

Repair is now complete.

* If player flashes "Initializing" & "GoGear" alternately, then resatart the process again. If it still doesn't work then there's not much else you can do.

Wont Play unless hooked to charger

Player can be reset from a lock up by pressing and holding "PLAY/PAUSE" and "Vol +"

Try updating the firmware with Device Manager on the product CD.
