Question about SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player
This can happen because either the image isn't there because the unit is dead or because the backlighting is faulty.
To check which just point a big flashlight directly at the screen while in a dark room:
- if you can see the image then the leds that generate the light are faulty: you will have to open the player, access the leds, see where are the wires that are powering them and locate and fix their break.
- if you can't see anything on the screen but the buttons light up then the screen isn't powered - dismantle the player and check the connector to the screen.
- if nothing can be seen then the unit is nonfunctional - try to reset it by removing the battery for half an hour, start it and press the forward and back button simultaneously. If this doesn't fix it then it's dead - junk it and get a new one.
