Howdy:) Try this:

Microwave - Explanation of the Child Lock Out Feature
Many microwave control panels can be locked to prevent accidental use or access by children.
There are two different ways to lock the control panel:
1. Press and hold the CLEAR/OFF pad for 3 seconds. The display will show "LOCK" and then revert to the time of day.
A small "L" will appear in the corner of the display as a reminder that the control panel is locked. If anyone tries to use the microwave, the display will show "LOCK".
2. On some models, press and hold the 5 and 7 pads simultaneously for 3 seconds.
To unlock the control: Repeat the procedure which was used to lock the control. (Press and hold the CLEAR/OFF pad for about 3 seconds or hold the 5 and 7 pad simultaneously for 3 seconds.)

This was a quick "guru" , educated technical response that worked in one second,,,,well, three seconds. It is amazing to me, at age 61, that I can turn on my computer and ask an
"how to question" and find a smart person who was generous enough to give his time to answer some stranger's question....all from my own desk at home. THANK YOU. I don't know why people criticize people who are kind enough to try to help strangers with their problems to begin with, but when the solution RESCUES them, they should be profusely thanked. So, thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have never used the convection part of this oven because it splattered the chicken juice all over the inside of the oven and it took me hours to clean it up. I bet if I had had a "how to cook a chicken by convection" in a site like this, I'd have been using that feature all along.

It is people like yourself who make it a pleasure. I have stopped contributing through the fixya forum due to a suprizing lack of respect demonstrated by the administrators toward the volunteer contributors, but it does warm my heart to know that people are still able to use some of my work to their satisfaction. Thanks again for your comment; it made my day:)

Man, that sure was great! The cleaning ladies had locked the oven and we could not figure out how to unlock it. The fan was running! I found you, held the Clear/Off button for about 3 seconds and...problem solved!

Frigidaire microwave key shows a lock and no keys work

Here is a previous answer that might be of help.......

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If it is still locked or goes into lock mode by itself, the "clear" key on your keypad may be shorting.
Here's how the child lock works on model FMV145:

Child Lock-Out
You may lock the control panel to prevent
the microwave from being accidentally
started or used by children.
To lock or unlock the controls, press and
hold CLEAR/OFF for about three
seconds. When the control panel is
locked, an "L" will be displayed to the
extreme right.

1 Answer

When I turn on my oven for cleaning it shows a f9 problem...could you help me with that

An F9 error code on a General Electric oven indicates that the oven's electronic control system has detected a problem with the automatic door lock. The automatic door lock mechanism prevents the oven door from being opened when the oven is set for "Clean" mode. The malfunction may be a jammed door lock mechanism, a pinched or broken wire, a faulty lock switch or a fault in the control board itself.

Things You'll Need:
  • Ohmmeter or multimeter
  • Phillips screwdriver
#step1

Disconnect power to the oven.
#
Step 2

Open the oven door. Remove three screws from underneath the oven's control panel. Lift the control panel straight up to disengage the mounting pins on the top corners of the panel, then tip the panel toward you.
#
Step 3

Inspect the door lock mechanism. The mechanism is in the lower left area of the space behind the control panel. Rotate the cam on the door lock mechanism to be certain it moves without binding. Replace the mechanism if its mechanical parts do not function properly.
#
Step 4

Inspect the wires that connect the door lock mechanism to the control panel. Check for pinched or broken wires. Check for wires with frayed insulation. Repair wires as needed if defects are present.
#
Step 5

Locate the six-pin connector on the door lock motor on the right end of the door lock mechanism.
#
Step 6

Rotate the cam on the door lock mechanism to the unlocked position. Test the resistance between Pin 3 and Pin 1 of the door lock connector with the ohmmeter. The resistance should be 0. Replace Lock Switch 2 of the door lock mechanism if the resistance reads other than 0.
#
Step 7

Rotate the cam on the door lock mechanism to the locked position. Test the resistance between Pin 3 and Pin 2 of the door lock connector with the ohmmeter. The resistance should be 0. Replace Lock Switch 1 of the door lock mechanism if the resistance reads other than 0.
#
Step 8

Contact a certified repair facility if the source of the F9 code has not been discovered.
Troubleshooting the oven with the electric power turned on is a job for a certified technician.

Do not perform troubleshooting on the oven with the power connected. Personal injury and damage to the oven can result.

How do I unlock the key pad? The display shows locked and I don't know how it locked.

Here you go.

The Child Lock shuts down the control panel pads to prevent
unintended use of the microwave oven.
When the control is locked, only the Vent Fan and Light pads will
function.
To Lock/Unlock Control: The microwave oven and Timer must
be off. Touch and hold START for 5 seconds until 2 tones sound
and a lock icon appears on the display. Repeat to unlock and
remove the lock icon from display.

The Display on my microwave says "LOCKED"

The control lock shuts down the control panel pads to avoid unintended use of the microwave oven. To unlock/lock control, the microwave must be in standby mode, touch and hold stop/clear for 3 seconds until one long tone sounds and the display clears to show an outline if the display area. Repeat to unlock control, and return display to the time of day, if any pad is touched while the control is locked, there will be no response from the microwave oven. hope this helps.
