Are the STK chips soldiered to the board or socketed? How do I locate the board?

Had the same behavior on tv. Replaced Convergence board. TV worked for
a few hours then reverted to old behavior. Put old Convergence board
back in, now tv is working again, for a couple days so far??? Worried
initial problem will return. Any ideas?

OK, finally found a 'replacement' part number since the original board isn't available. Replaced with BP95-00142P. Obtained from PartStore.com. Plugged in new part. Worked for an evening. Went to turn on next day and back to original problem! There must be a part feeding the convergence amp that is flakey and blowing the amp! Any more ideas?? Otherwise, just threw away $100 trying the easy fix. :^(

Was running TV this morning to exercise it. While I wasn't looking, it
shut itself off. Power button and remote had no response. Unplugged
from wall, replugged. TV back up and working normally. There must be
    something overheating or going out.

Do you have any pictures of the STK chip and their location?

  • BOB BRUNSWICK Jun 12, 2008

fOUND THE BOARD, LOOKS EASY TO REPLACE AND COST IS NOT BAD:$77.00! WILL GIVE THIS A TRY, BUT IF IT DOESN'T WORK WILL MOST SUPPLIERS ACCEPT RETURN?

  • BOB BRUNSWICK Jun 29, 2008

I've removed and replaced the convergence board with the STK's and the same problem still persists, no sound or picture, just the red flashing light.

I've also removed and inspected both side the boards and found no evidence of any leakage.

Convergence board shot. Cheap to fix yourself, board has two STK chips on it and is easy to get to.

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-24FS100 24" TV On/Off problems

I have spent about 4 hours tonight researching several tech sites and the Sony service manual for the same problem with my Sony KV-32HS510 unit. I was able to download the manual from a website http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/31649/Sony_KV-32HS510.html and a TV Repair training lecture paper at http://www.repairfaq.org/sam/tvfaq.htm#tvhvp .

These TV sets have a safety feature where it will shut back down if a high voltage is indicated. Unfortunately, the electronics for these safety features are not very reliable and give false indication. Letting the unit sit off lets the capacitors leak voltage as well as cool off. These two factor help with the unit not falsely indicating a high voltage condition.

The D Board seems to be the most common failure component, but a 6 times flash could be an overcurrent/voltage failure from the A, B, or M boards. A 7 times flash is a Horizontal Deflection Stopped error with no additional information given in the manual for a fix. Again, in most blogs, the D Board seemed to the source of the failures.

A refurbished D Board part no. A1300319A can be bought for around $200 with a new board at $550 per the www.partstore.com site. Then add $100-$200 for an actual TV service technician and you have a repair bill approaching the costs for a new flatscreen TV.

Some tech types posted that they have actually repaired their boards by replacing individual components for around $40. You may find a service shop that can do the same component level repair at the $100-$150 level cost. It turns out that the closest authorized Sony repair shop is 2-1/2 hours away from us. Good luck finding someone close by.

We were able to get our TV to come back on after dozens of attempts and plan to leave it on until it dies all together. I may attempt my own D Board replacement when the time comes.

Good luck!

I mean that your unit is need of resolder or reheating of the solder joint of the parts.Supply section, horizontal section, vertical section and microprocessor IC.Improper distribution of current flow ,due to a loose contact or crack solder, that's your tv automatically signalling by flashing, that is the main cause of flashing . Find a tv technician to do works for you,,in order to avoid high voltage shock....
