I have the old analog virtual pilot pro yoke and rudder pedals (serial connectors) which I have run through a rock fire serial to usb adapter. System worked fine past couple of years till I have a recent computer problem. Once the problem was fixed, my yoke no longer is functional except as a simple game controller. I have no hat switch function but rudders still work. I cannot use the POV on my flight sim any longer and attempts to download drivers comes up with a termination of the download. Anyway to fix this problem or am I going to have to invest in new controllers. NEW QUESTION If I have to buy a new yoke and pedals which one should I get that would most closely resemble the functions of my old ones. (old one has two POV hat switches).

Hmmm, it should be possible to get them working as before, you just did a software reload of the computer? Did anything else in the computer physically change? Did you set it up yourself previously (when it was all working) or did someone do it for you? Are you using the same version of Windows as before? When you say you attempt to download the drivers and they terminate, what do you mean? The driver download never finishes? Or you can't find the correct drivers?

Let me know a few of these things and I can definitely help you.

Thanks
Tim

Loaded XPlane 10 on new iMac and rudder pedals no longer function?

My iMac has a CD/DVD drive, but I posted a X-Plane 10 pendrive to avoid inserting DVD #1 every session. It functions perfectly. Another point is to connect all peripherals (stick and pedals etc.) BEFORE launching X-Plane 10. Then calibrate your peripherals within XP 10.
I have no pedals set, but instead a pitch-stick with grip throttle and a Logitech joystick with twist grip to fly helicopters.

Try basic troubleshooting first, try to remove and reconnect the ps/2 and usb of the saitek pro flight, also try to put it in different usb ports to see if maybe a usb port is not working, lastly when all else fails try to connect it in another computer and see if it works.

I have just bought a Pro Flight yoke and throttle system it has a computer cd with it my question is this...Do you put in the disc just before loading up the yoke and throttle system??

How to Set Up a Saitek Proflight Yoke System Instructions
    Mounting the Yoke
Mounting the Yoke
  1. Determine where you will set it up. You need a desk or table with a wide, flat surface. Clear away objects on the desk that might be in the way or that could be accidentally knocked off. The yoke must be mounted on top of the table and takes up a good deal of space, but the throttle may be mounted in front of or even under under the table if you prefer.

  2. Remove both units from the box carefully. The system is lightweight, but care should be taken not to drop it. Note that there are also some loose parts in the box including the large clamp which attaches the yoke and a smaller clamp for the throttle unit. Note that there are some instructions and diagrams on the back of the box that may be of use.

  3. Place the yoke on the surface and position it where you want it.

  4. Pick up the yoke clamp assembly and make sure that the threaded plastic bolt is inserted, but not screwed in. The clamp fits underneath the table with the two upper prongs sliding into the corresponding holes on the front of the unit.

  5. Adjust the yoke and clamp as needed to insure it is in the exact position you want. Then tighten the plastic bolt. Test the yoke to make sure it is stable and does not move on the table when you manipulate the controls.

  6. Pick up the throttle unit and its clamp assembly. Unlike with the yoke, the clamp assembly must be screwed into the back of the throttle unit using small screws. Note that it may be attached in two different directions depending upon how you wish to mount the throttle to your table (either above or in front of it). Decide now which way will work best for you. See the images on the box for reference.

  7. Position the throttle clamp around the table surface and tighten the plastic bolt, just as you did for the yoke.

  8. Connecting it to Your Computer
  9. Look at the back of the yoke. There is a single USB cable which is permanently attached to the yoke. Plug this cable directly into a USB port on your PC. The ports on the rear of a computer usually work better for this purpose than those on the front.

  10. Look at the back of the throttle unit. There should be a single cord coming out the back of it. Note that it is not a USB cable. Instead it has a round connector, like those used on non-USB keyboards and mice. Plug this cable into the round port on the back of the yoke.

  11. Turn your computer on. It should recognize the yoke as a new plug and play device. Note that the computer will see the yoke and throttle as a single device rather than as two separate ones. The included software is not required. The yoke should work as soon as it is plugged in.

  12. Go to website http://saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php to download and install the latest drivers.

  13. Assign buttons and commands directly through your favorite flight simulator.

  14. Additional peripherals such as rudder pedals or another throttle unit may be added using the USB port on the back of the yoke.

jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); });

What model autopilot? If it is a Raytheon/Raymarine try switching the motor leads to see if that works.

Saitek Pro Flight yoke and quadrant stop working

I had a similar problem with Vista Home 32. Finally tried an old external USB 1.1 hub that I had laying around and now everything works all the time in FSX and X-Plane. It is rock solid. Can't make it fail even when I try. I also tried a USB 2.0 hub but had the same problem with that. I can't say for sure it will fix your problem but it is worth a try.

Hi Chris

Ensure that you have the usb lead from the yoke plugged into the rear of the PC as these give the most current. Ensure the drivers for the yoke are installed properly and they are the latest for your operating system. If this still does not work, then the yoke is faulty. Good luck!
