I have a Toshiba 42hm66 and it needs a color wheel. Does any one have a part number for the Color wheel. Toshiba told me they can't find the part # as they don't know the part number? Go figure

The part bumber on this color wheel is 75004307
and Toshiba has discontinued it. I have recently gotten lucky and Sears still has a small inventory of them. You have to order it from the website www.searspartsdirect.com
They are the only place I have been able to get one from.

Makes a whirring noise after 10 minutes then shuts off

That could be an issue with either the color wheel or the fan. It sounds more like a color wheel issue. But trying to locate which area the sound originated from will determine wether the fan or the colorwheel is the culprit.

Toshiba model number 62HM95 62' makes grinding noise

SORRY, This is from the authorized Toshiba parts center:

"The color wheel, lamp fan, lamp fan holder are parts of the LIGHT ENGINE only." It means the wheel is not sold separately and there is not even listed in the breakdown for the set a part number.

A replacement light engine (optical light engine) retails for 456.00 list and is sold on an exchange basis only.

Toshiba 42HM66 has a whirring noise that stops when power off

this is a bad color wheel, however you cannot just change the color wheel on this set you have to replace the entire light engine.

If you are using the color stream input make sure the correct color wires are plugged in the same on both ends. if color is off on all inputs and the TV menu then replace the light engine.

Loud humming noise while Toshiba 42HM66 is operating

Hi, it isn`t rocket science but it is difficult to do if you`ve never done one before, and you may have to do an index alignment after the new one is installed, that means call a tv tech or buy the service manual, I`d recommend you call your local techs and ask price for them to replace,gl, video-tek

The picture on my 2 yr old Toshiba 42hm66 DLP tv starts flickering and with alot of rainbow looking distortion after an hour of veiwing. I replaced the lamp, but it sill has the probelm. Any idea what...

I hope this helps you but you might wanna look into some other posts too cause it goes farther then the lamps and color wheels. Basically it's a bad product and the consumer should be fixing it. But your problem seems to be the color wheel. Or just a good cleaning. We replaced the lamb in ours and still had a color problem. We're gonna do an exstensive cleaning and dusting of our unit and if it don't work. We're going straight to the manufactor. This is enough with this product! It's costly to repair and still don't have the quality picture it should. It's more then a simple fix and too costly for ppl to just fix and move on. For how old these products are this all should not be happening.

How to Access Color Wheel on Toshiba 46HM95

I bought a used 46hm95 but it had a greenish "band" that streched from the upper right corner to the lower left corner. It was only noticeable on a white or light colored background, which is why I overlooked it when I tested out the TV.

I took out the bulb and shined a flashlight into the color wheel. I could see a fingerprint smudge on it. I took off the lower rear plastic panel. the rear is split into two section (the light engine is on the right. You'll have to unscrew a metal guard (three scerws), then disconnect the wires coming from the left section, and then unscrew the plastic guard that protects the lens. Then unscrew the light engine (two screws) and slide it out carefully (you don't have to take it completely out, just far enough to reach the screws to the color wheel covers). There are two covers protecting the color wheel, one plastic and one metal. Unscrew the plastic cover first than the four screws to the metal cover. I left the color wheel in place while I cleaned it with a microfiber cloth. I did pull the glass square in front of the color wheel and wiped that down too.

I put everything back together, and now the picture is perfect.

Things to remember are:
*Keep track of the screws and where they belong, as you remove them so you'll remember where they go when it's time to put things back together.
*Mark the wire connectors from any wire you disconnect in case you forget where they go.
*Be gentle with the color wheel and the glass square because they are fragile.

Hope this helps.
