Question about Vtech EV2625 Cordless Phone

Open Question

I have two ev2625 vtech phones and the 2626 base. Suddenly during a conversation the phone will drop the call (go dead). Batteries are a year old, but generally are well charged. The problem is inconsistant. This happened previously (that is why I replaced the batteries) previously. I recently unplugged the base from 110 power and removed both phones from their cradles. We haven't used the phones that much as of late, but so far they haven't dropped the calls. Has this been a reported issue and other that the mystery of electronics what might be the problem?

SOURCE: Not Registered

I had the same problem and this procedure fixes it! First, unplug the power to the main base (answering machine) for 20 seconds. Plus it back in. Put the phone that says "not registered" in the main answering machine. It will say "press the find handset for 4 seconds". Do that. It will run thru a series of stuff and will find the handset. It works! Rich (jambones.com)

buy a new battery from ebay.
just type in the search box, 80-5808-00-00
(the battery number)
You should be able to get a replacement for around $6 incl shipping.
This worked for me anyway. (Same symptoms you described)

I've been having problems with short battery life on my Vtech
5.8 Ghz model CS5121-2. Tried "zapping" the 3.3 volt batteries, which helps for a while.

Determined (via DMM) that the base unit battery charger reads
10.45 volts DC no load - while the remote charger reads 12.5 volts DC no load. Xfrmr output is supposed to be 7.5 volts according to info molded into the unit. Might be the problem!!!

The EV2625 isn't an answering machine. To listen to your messages, refer to the documentation for whatever answering machine or voicemail system you have on your phone line.

If you require further assistance, please add a comment to this question and identify the answering machine or voicemail system.

My phone keeps saying unable to connect

is your phone about a year old? It may be the battery. The vtech phones have weak batteries that clunk out after about a year and you'll get dropped calls, looking for base etc... The phone still appears to be working and the battery indicator tells you it's charged, but the battery is too weak to keep the wireless connection going.

Had the same problem and replaced the battery. budgetbatteries.com had the cheapest ones. But it's a knockoff, so I don't know how long it will last. So far it's been 3 months and the problems are gone. I would try that first and see how it goes. I paid about $15 including shipping. If you buy it from vtech it's at least double...

This model of phone have serious problem regarding the battery. This phone use a lot of juice out of the battery. I'm pretty sure that when your battery is foul charge it doesn't do it. So the problem is in the handset. When your battery starting to get to low you loose your connection. Why?...Because the detection to LOW_BATT in your handset is not calibrate adequately. So it thinks that the batt is weak, to weak to make a conversation.

The other problem could be that your handset doesn't really foul charge your battery. So when you are to far from the base or talking for to long . There's not enough power in the battery to raise the output signal level(db) to your base.

Phones cant find base

I have two handsets, one of them recently starting dropping the connection to the base quite regularly [even if it was just inches away], and I ended-up in the same situation after unregistering the phone.

In my case, I was able to remove the battery from the phone [as you did] but also unplug the power on the base unit for several seconds. After restoring power to both, I was able to re-register the handset and it appears to be working more reliably now.
