Question about Nintendo DS Console

DS will not keep settings

You said to change the internal battery. Are you referring to the regular battery that runs the entire unit or a smaller battery located inside the unit.

The main battery is the only battery that keeps the DS memory there is no internal clock battery or anything so it will most likley be your main battery that is dead.

Quick point though, if this is the case your DS should not boot. if it does boot and the settings are lost then I would check the battery terminals to make sure they are connecting okay.

Other than this it could be an eprom on the main board at fault maybe.

Good luck

My ds lite won't turn on.

Regular tap water contains minerals that are left behind as the water dries out. So, even if you did get all the water out, the minerals can still cause damage. In addition, the DS has a 'soft power switch' and that means that as long as the battery is in the device (as it probably was when sprayed) there is electricity present that can destroy the unit while water is there. Most probably, the water already did some damage when the unit got wet and the minerals and/or previous damage may have finished the job later when the unit was turned on. Some water may have even been left in the system since it can hide in areas that the dry rice will not be able to "draw" out. The best way to dry out a device is quickly remove the battery, take the entire system apart and clean the individual components and run some distilled water over the components to remove the mineral content of tap water before it dries on the boards/contacts. The DS lite system is relatively inexpensive these days, I think your best solution might be buying a good used one off Ebay (units can be had for around $50 today). May want to take apart any cartridge you had in it the old one and check for water in there, just in case, before using it in the new(er) one, too. Sorry for the bad news.

How to reset your nintendo DS

Hi. Here's the procedure on how to reset the console. Take note that if you are going to do this procedure this will erase all of the data saved on the system and restore the unit to its original factory settings.

Remove the cover for the battery compartment. The compartment is located on the back of the DS Lite unit, and the cover has a small screw holding it in place. You will need a Phillips size 0 screwdriver to remove it.
  • 2 Take out the DS Lite's battery pack. There is a tab at the top of the battery pack. Insert your fingernail or the end of the screwdriver carefully into the edge of this tab and pop out the pack.
  • 3 Keep the battery pack out of the unit for at least 10 seconds. If you keep the battery pack out for too short of a time, it will not reset the unit.
  • 4 Put the battery pack back into the unit. Just line it up in the compartment and push it back into place.
  • 5 Replace the cover. Secure the cover back into place with the screw.
  • 6 Turn on the DS Lite. If the unit has properly reset, a screen will come up that reads "Before you begin, you must adjust system settings." You can now enter all-new settings and information on your DS Lite. If you do not get the system settings screen, you did not keep the battery pack out long enough. Repeat the steps and leave your battery pack out for a longer period of time.

Hi there. My DS was sat in a draw for a year or so, and now when i come to turn it on, it asks me to adjust the system settings. Following the completion of this, it restarts. Upon restart it asks me to...

Hi, this is a common problem with ds, that happen if they have been sitting around for a while. they have a small watch battery inside that keeps the time and date running now since it has not been charged or used for so long then it looks like this battery has gone flat, you can try giving it a full charge and see if that makes and difference if not then your going to need to get the internal battery replaced, if you take it into most small phone shops they will be able to do the repair for you.

tell them the problem your having and then they will get this battery replaced for you.

try giving it a full charge first and let it go flat then charge it again if that still dont work after this then it will need a new system battery.

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

Hi, I have a ds that does not charge or come on when plugged in.It flashes the charge light once when you plug it in.I have tried a new battery and different charger.Thank you for any advice. P.S. I have...

This is most likely caused by a blown fuse. I've repaired the same problem by replacing the fuse, but it is quite difficult, as they are smaller than the letters in this sentence. You can search YouTube for a video tutorial (there are plenty) or ask me if you have any questions.
Swapping internal components would also work, but it seems like kind of a waste; you may as well try the fuse thing first.

    Nintendo ds clock not working

i had some trouble with my ds, and so i killed the battery. you have to stop charging it and leave it on with full sound to down the battery faster. keep doing this untill when you turn it on it shuts off by it's self imediately. leave it alone for a week or so and then check and see if you can turn it back on. if it won't even light up for a moment when you hit power you've done it right.

WARNING: this will erase all saved data for all games on the ds.

you can now plug it into the wall and let it charge for at least 5mins. keep it pulgged in and turn it on. it should show the settings menu for birthday, time, etc. just like when you first took it out of the box.

this will reset the ds to factory settings, and should alow you to change the time.

NOTE: only do this if the time is REALLY bothering you.
