DVD drive malfunction

My DVD drive suddenly stopped working on my Toshiba A205-S4607. I have even looked at the item in the Device Manager and it refuses to update the drivers. I have a Pioneer-DVD-RW DVR-K17LF ATA dvd drive. I was able to do a system restore on it once and the DVD drive worked after that, so it looked like a Vista update borked it. However, it will not even work after a system restore now. Help! i also have the same problem my dvd drive is mafunction and it cant read my disc at all
