Suzuki 2 outboard, can't get the prop off, it's seized, any idea how to remove it?

How to Change the impeller on Suzuki 140 outboard motor


Suzukis are normally a mission to work on especially if it is a two stroke,so I suggest you get a workshop manual.all gearbox bolts must be undone,the gear linkage is under the bottom carb,this is the tricky part,you have to loosen a nut at bottom of gear arm where gearcable fits,then push in with screw driver,this releases gear change shaft.the biggest problem is trying to see what you are doing.good luck

Have 115 Hp mercury outboard motor missing at full throttle and on idle. At mid throttle it is running fine. Any Idea what the problem could be. Thanks, Milton


Have your spark plugs changed AND carbs cleaned and adjusted.
Usually that can also be caused by a seized advance system ( plate under the flywheel, commanded to turn with the throttle linkage... )

You may not be deep enough in the water and it really is cavitation.

May want to check the lower oil for metal as a Mostly worn out gear can do that

It's normal for a gearbox in forward to "click" in one direction and be firm against the motor when turning against the gears normal rotation.

Most modern outboards had 2 tapped holes in the casting which would let you put a steering wheel puller on that part wit some all thread and push aginst the end of the prop shaft to get that piece off the lower.o

15hp power old mdel bt in good cond.if run on full the engen dont want to push the vessel like before what must i do ?


If rev-ving up as it idles the same and can get you moving normally in low speed when in gear...then increase the speed, always under load (in the water) and if you cannot get the same thrust most common proplem would be the propeller (prop) spinning hub slipping problems to plain prop damage/wear and tear.

If you are convinced it is not an engine problem take the prop to your local marine dealer that has a good parts manager. Bring all info (model/serial number). If you are lucky it is a torn or loose hub.

Marine dealerships have a deal w/ prop machine shops that usually come in once or twice a week. Depending on the business the business or condition of the propeller they might offer to sell you a new one (may not be in stock) usually 2 day shipping. That is another option. I have seen 15 hp steel props (usually heavy use in salt water) I would ask for the parts MANAGER.

Removing a prop from a small outboard: Use needle nosed pliers and straighten the key evenly ...any type of plyer remove key ...may have to use regular pliars for leverage. Use a socket wrench to undo the the nut. Use a crescent wrench at an angle if not available. Remove prop...If stuck spray w/ lubricant and let stand overnight. Use a hammer and chisel while revolving the prop a few times. if it does not free itself quickly (Do not desroy your prop shaft).

I mostly know small OMC Evinrude/Johnson outboards from the 40's through late 80's....Always include a model number and at least the make of the brand. I have no deal w/ fixya.com as an expert but just offering free advice hopefully someone helps me.

Boat motor while in water revs extremely high after about half throttle with no additional thrust


It sounds like the prop bushing is bad. There are 2 systems for preventing gear damage,shear pins and rubber prop bushings.

The rubber bushing can be molded to the prop or there is a type that has a sleeve the prop fits over. If the prop has no sleeve you need to take the prop off and have it relined. It will fail soon, its just a matter of time. If you have the removeable sleeve, you replace the sleeve and just slide the prop over it and you are done.

The diminished thrust is due to the rubber slipping from its bond and it will get looser and looser.

try removing the prop when you want to barrel test it . we (evinrude) dealer had to use test props or remove on bigger engines . or run in river /lake

2001 suzuki outboard water prop


water prop? if your talking about the Propeller that rotates to propel the boat. only replace it if fins are missing. Aluminum and stainless steel propellers can be rebuilt. If your talking about the water pump impeller. the answer is yes. its rubber and should be replaced seasonly
