Question about Toro Lawn Boy Push Walk Power Mower 10640 ()

I have to use the pull start option on my mower because I lost the charger cord. Now it takes me about 20-30 pulls to get it to start. What is the problem?

First...use only clean SAE 30 oil for the Briggs 6.75 engine..2. Make sure the air cleaner isn't clogged with dirt/grass etc. 3. Use fresh gas (less than 1 month old). You may need the carburetor or spark plug cleaned or both. The plug is easy. If you don't want to buy another one, clean with solvent and wire brush. The brass bolt that holds the bottom bowl on the carburetor may need to be removed and cleaned (it's the carbs main jet). Look for very small holes at bottom of bolt and on the smooth sides of it.

Pull cord engaging

recoil clutch fingers are broken or stuck. Take the recoil cover off and look at it while pulling the cord to see if the fingers arent coming out. If the fingers are still coming out then you have worn out grooves on starter cone where fingers engage to turn the motor. If the recoil is damaged a new one can be purchased as a unit from Troy Bilt online for a reasonable price.

I have a Troy-Bilt Briggs and Stratton 675 series lawn mower. The pull cord is stuck and will not move. I can lightly pull the cord repeatedly and the cord slowly allows me to pull more but if I release it...

Take the plug out and try to move the blade. If the motor won't rotate, the problem might be with the motor and the cord can't move because of it.

When yanking on the pull cord to start engine

Im guessing that you have started it before, so I guess , check that its not flooding ,pull air filter out see If you can see heaps of fuel in the bottom hole ,if you do take spark plug out pull cord a few times without holding start cable or you will catch on fire replace spark plug try starting ,no start still flooding take it to a lawn mower place ,float may have a hole in it , if not flooding, on the bottom of the cardy one brass nut , four holes find them clear then, start also a brass pipe going into the center of the carby is probable blocked

Pull cord is stuck

Take off your cover to the pull cord, the cord probably just got wrapped around the pulley. If you run into trouble with taking off this cover go to smalleng.com they will walk you through the process off pull cord removal and installation. Good Luck PAL.

there should be four bolts holding the cover on that houses the pull cord assembly take the bolts out look inside you should see the rest of the broken cord at the other end there is a spool that the cord rolls up in to pull the cord until it stops the other end of the cord is a not in the cord pull on the knot the broken peice should come out turn the spool 2 times in the direction that is against the pressre while holding the spool in place feed the new cord in through the whole that you pulled the broken cord out of then tie the cord in a knot wind the rest of the cord up then feed the other end of the cord through the new pull handle tie the cord in a knot put the housing back on
