SOURCE: long cycle and other probs.
This is almost always a bad control board. If you want to verify this, turn power off to the unit and remove the outer door by removing the 4 or 6 torx screws down each side and then remove the upper housinb by removing the remaining torx screws. Once you have the upper housing off, find the control board. It is a white box with lots of wires connecting to it. Lable the wires and take them off, then pop the control board out of place (it just snaps in) Once you hve the control board in hand open the white houseing into 2 halfs (it is hinged) and pop the board out of its holder (the half of the board without the buttons) and look on the back for a burned solder joint. Ths is how they all fail. You may be able to clean the joint and re-solder it, but I have never tried. If you Don't want to go through all that, just get a control board 99.9% surethat's where your problem is. Good Luck!

We also have this problem. Dishes smell like golf course irrigation water. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Do we call a repairman?

Check disposer plug. If a garbage disposer has been recently installed, it is possible the disposer drain plug was not removed. The drain plug is a plastic piece in the disposer that blocks the hole where the dishwasher hose connects. Also check the hose connected to the disposal. Mine apparently had a kink in it. When I straightened the hose the dishwasher drained at full speed (I recently had a plumber re-route a hot waterline. He must has bent the hose). Hope this helps. If not go to the GE website. That's where I found my answer.
