Question about Toshiba Lands Phones

2 Answers

We have an old toshiba phone system and our phone sevice told us we have a routing problem. We have 3 lines and the only number that rings now is our 3nd rollover line. It does not go to out main number and then rollover twice. It automatically goes to line 3. The phone model number is EKT6015 H . We have checked all the connections with the black box in our back room. So when someon call us if rings to line 3 and then goes directly to voice mail.

Would our carrier xo communications be the person to contact for the dial tone provider's equipment? If no ,who would I contact?

  • correspon385 Sep 14, 2010

They are now telling me it is an internal phone system problem and they are unable to help me. I have no idea who to call now. They tell me that the dial tone only goes up to the xo router and that is it. Frustrating!!!

Phone service? You probably have a Strata VI box in the back, but the pilot number and all of the hunting is part of the dial tone provider's equipment. Somewhere on the side of the box, you should be able to unplug all outside lines and plug single line phones or test the lines with no equipment on them. If the first line rolls to line 3 all by itself, then call the dial tone provider and have them test the group. You have to make sure you're not shorting out the lines. In fact, if you can get dial tone on lines 1 2 and 3, then it tends to make it their problem and not your Toshiba system.

If XO provides the dialtone, yes. Does that mean you have dial tone on all 3 lines?

It's not. If you have 3 dial tones and can call out on 3 lines, it "mus be sumpin' wrong wit yo equipment". Geeze. Sound like morons.

From each line, call a cell phone with CID and read the number displayed. Then, call each of those numbers back and see if it rings the specific line. If it does or doesn't, it means that your equipment is working. If all 3 lines still hunt to line 3 and then VM, they have a serious routing issue. I'm guessing they have a serious routing issue anyway. If you get this prior to 4:30 EDT you may call me on 419-352-4477.

    So where was the problem?

Do you plan on solving it before the 30-days is up? Each of your 3 lines has a telephone number associated with it. If you call a cell they will see the CID and can call you back on that number. If those 3 lines ring your phone system in 1.2.3 order, but the pilot number only rings line 3, how could it ever be in your system?

I already offered once to let you call me...but since you don't want to pay for the service you already received, I guess you'll just live with what you got. After your 30 days, someone will probably talk you into a new phone system or an IP solution. And all of this could have been fixed with a little logic and common sense.

Wont Ring, Wont pick up another line, upgrading phone lines

You will have to do a little programming to accomplish this. I attached a website to this message that has all the Toshiba manuals. You will have to look at program number 16 for line access and 81 for ringing options. The code to get in program mode is *#*#1*2*3. Hope this helps.

M7310 - 3 phone set system - line 3 on one set does no ring tone

Feature * 6 is for the ring tone of the set, it doesn't change the cadence (ring tone) on a line...

The only way to change the ring tone on a line... it would require everyone that has that number to change.

You need to go into the programming
-> look for LINE and enter
-> put in 003 for line 3 and enter
-> under TRUNK/LINE DATA find DISTINCT RING and change
-> REL to end programming...

Now that line 3 will ring differently. But it will ring differently on everyone's sets that has line 3 on their phone

Toshiba RPCI DI Station Ringer

which system?
The most popular is the DK system but it came in several revisions.
The primary differences are the way the ports are numbered and several program numbers.
Programming is done from port 005(ext 205).
The sequence of events is:
enter programming mode by pressing "speaker *#*#1*2*3"
enter ringing program
Day ring is "spkr 81 hold"
enter port number of the port you want to ring (example : 007#)
press buttons corresponding to the lines you want to ring then press hold.
To exit programming press"spkr ## hold then spkr ## hold.

Fax phone hookup

Use an identa call box. You set the distinctive ring pattern (1-2-3) and the box will route the call through depending on what number it is. I have two numbers on one line. I have a tee adapter on the phone plug with two phone cables coming out. Each phone cable one plugs into a small distinctive ring box. I set one box switch to 1, and the second box to 2. If the first phone# rings box 1 allows the signal through to the phone. If the fax line rings the phone won't ring, but the second box will pass connection to fax and vise versa.

I brought mine from Bell Canada phone store. It is called a identa-call box, or distinctive ring switch. Best way to go !

Down line connects

When you say "down lines" I assume you mean private lines also called direct lines from one office to another. These lines must have a dedicated device or assigned location at each end. You will not be able to multiplex these on top of what you all ready have assigned to local numbers. If your phone system has a KSU which feeds multiple devices, it's possible that it can be programed to to have a different ringing identity for these private lines. Sorry I couldn't provide any better information than that .Jer

Toshiba dk40 system ringing

do all of the lines appear on all the extensions? if so, the procedue is fairly complicated, you need to go into the programming on port 05, then go into program 04 and get all of the port numbers for each extension, then in program 81-89 you need to select each when you want the co to ring, in either day 1,2 or 3, and complete for each co line that you want to ring
