I have a pair of Monarch 10 x 42 binoculars with a cracked eyecup. It is an easy fix, so all I need is the part. Can I purchase the part without having to send my binoculars to a repair facility?

Send them back to Nikon. The first pair i had did it twice, then they sent me a brand new pair. Here a year later with new pair the eyecup pieces that turn in and out already have cracks in them again.

Need to realign the optics for Binoculars

You can't. It needs to be done professionally.

I imagine that you are now finding that whatever you do, you cannot get both eyepieces to focus. Most likely, the carrier yoke for the eyepieces has bent or broken: it's by far the biggest single cause of binocular failure.

If it's bent then straightening it is rarely accurate and usually results in the yoke breaking or leaves it severely weakened and ready to break. If it's broken, the physical loads across such a tiny contact area making gluing impractical. Even in the rare cases where it can be done all that it results in is a yoke which is back in one piece but which is now bent.

In most cases, the cost of repair exceeds the cost of replacing with new, but your binoculars are fairly expensive so that's most unlikely to be the case. But if you want them to work again like a £500+ pair of binoculars then you need to send them for professional repair. If you do it any other way then you may as well throw them away and buy a £15 pair of Bresser Meade 10x50's from LIDL (excellent binos for the price and comparable to many £100 models, but not in the same league as yours when fully functional).

Eye piece needs to be replaced

You will have to send it in for repairs, binoculars are filled with nitrogen gas which will have to be replaced.
look for bushnell repairs on line. Make sure when you send them in that you also tape your name and mailing address on the binoculars to ensure you get them back. Also insure the package when sending it in the mail.

My binoculars need some maintenance, and it looks like the eyepiece coating is wearing off. Where can I send them for repair, and do they come with a lifetime guarantee?

Bausch & Lomb binoculars did carry a Limited Life Time Warranty. I quote the first paragraph of the enclosed warranty card. The rest of the card just mentions the address to send them. The card is old and always good to check for the current address. "Your Bushnell or Bausch & Lomb binocular, riflescope, or telescope is unquestionably warranted to be free of defect in material and workmanship for the lifetime of the original owner." Coating wearing off is not considered a warranty repair as coatings can come off over time. Rubbing too hard often or not blowing off debris before cleaning can do this. Using cleaners not made for coated lenses also can. The Bausch & Lomb Discoverer was made by Bushnell. They have owned B & L's binoculars business since the mid seventies. Bushnell still make the discoverer line under the Bushnell brand name. Contact Bushnell in your country for service.

See two images at higher power.

Your binoculars are out of collimation. That means that the optical path needs to be aligned. Binoculars are designed so that the focus point of each barrel is the same over long and as short as possible distances. Binoculars that are properly aligned will still show a double image if you attempt to focus at something close that is too close for the models design. However this is not the same for long distances. The image at a long distance must not be doubled.

If they are under warranty and you haven't damaged them by dropping etc send them for repair to the manufacturer or ask the retailer where to send them.

If you are going to pay to have them fixed get a quote first. Binoculars that are of the zoom variety are not well thought of among binocular officionados as the quality of image degrades at higher magnification. For the price of repair you may be able to source a higher quality non zoom binocular.

Jenoptem alignment- how to get the images to line up in each ocular

Unfortunately if they are out of alignment you need to take them to a service center. It can't really be fixed at home without a device known as a collimator. Binoculars can fall out of collimation if they have been knocked or dropped. Jenoptems were made by the defunct East German Carl Zeiss Jena. Zeiss was split in two after WW2 with Jena being on the east. The current Zeiss firm is the West German company. Zeiss Jena ceased to be after the fall of the Berlin Wall. It is unlikely that the current firm would fix these for you. If they did the price would be greater than several pairs of Jenoptems.

Before you do take them check to see if they have a seven digit serial number. If it is six digits they are fake Jenoptems. There were many fake Jenoptems sold in the eighties by UK dealers. There is even a myth that they were made under licence in Japan. A myth is all that information is. There is no documentation to substantiate this and was probably spread by sellers trying to legitimise an inferior product.
