Question about Sony NW-E505 MP3 Player

2 Answers

I downloaded the sonicstage software for my sony walkman NW-E505 along with the securtiy update and after it installed and restarted, I always get the windows error message saying " a program has caused sonicstage to stop working" and it shuts it down. I installed the software about 3 times! when I hook up the walkman to my laptop via usb, Windows Media Player recognizes it and it is found on my computer as drive F. I synced albums from Media player to the walkman and they show up on the file list of drive f and windows media player even plays them back. I tried formating the walkman, switched the USB bus power to low power, tried reset button in back of player and nothing works...the music seems to be in there but still get no data message. would appreciate any help...thank you very much

well, when I transfer files from media player on to the walkman, they transfer just fine and the files are listed on the removable drive and can be played back on the computer but when I unplug the usb, I get the "no data" message on the walkman so I tried downloading sonicstage but the program gets shut down by windows after the welcome screen comes up., the error message is that "a program is causing sonicstage not to work"

well, when I download music from media player to the walkman, the walkman is recognized and the music gets transferred and can be played back while plugged in to usb...when I remove usb, I get the "no data" message on the walkman. So I tried downloading sonicstage software and when the program starts to open up, after the welcome screen, I get the message from windows that a program is causing sonic stage to stop working and it shuts it down.

My biggest issue is the "no data' on my walkman even though it shows up on the removable drive - if I can fix that i don't care about the sonic stage software

Hi! The walkman's internal hardware could be faulty that the only thing that works is the usb port that's why it can still play on media player. It's like a hardware crash that will surely needs replacement. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

Nw-e002f format error

Hi,

Follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.

The NO DATA or FORMAT ERROR message may occur if the portable player has been formatted using the format utility in Windows Explorer. To correct this issue, initialize (format) the portable player using the Initialize or Format utility built into your Walkman player.

Reset the unit by pressing the RESET button with a small object such as a paper clip.

If the issue persists, I suggest that you un-install and reinstall the latest version of the Sonic Stage Software and transfer the songs again to resolve the issue. Click here to download the latest version of the SonicStage Software.

This should resolve the issue.

Thanks for contacting FixYa.

SonicStage won't open

I don't know if this will help but have you tried Sony's website? There is a security update for Sonic Stage 4.3 that they say must be installed in order to make the program run properly. Go to Sony USA and type in minidisc players in the search window. Then click on the link for minidisc players. When that window opens type in your model number and the page displaying that particular model should open. There you should find the latest software updates. I downloaded Sonic Stage 4.3 along with all of the needed updates from Sony's site and it works just fine for me. You may have to uninstall your current software and reinstall it after installing the security update as the installation instructions on the website said that the installation must be done in that order or the Sonic Stage software may not work properly. Sony also offers email tech support.
Good luck.

Transfer songs to your player only with SonicStage. If you did with other software, format the player from the menu and transfer songs from SonicStage. Sonicstage can be downloaded here under SonicStage. Make sure you install the security update after installing the software...

Sony Nwa3000 appears dead??

First things first-have you pressed the reset button on the bottom of the unit? Secondly- try updating the firmware on your unit the manual way - Go to this link. http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowArticle.action?section=en_GB_Products&articlesection=1&article=1154694485490&productcategory=%2FAudio%2FNetwork+Walkman&productmodel=%2FAudio%2FNetwork+Walkman%2FNW-A3000&productsku=NWA3000B.CEK&site=odw_en_GB Go to download the latest version of Sonicstage but dont actually do it. At some point there is a link to update your firmware to version 3.0. Try doing this again, going through the update procedure it suggests, even if you already have 3.0 installed. This might work. Worth a try at least!
