If the fuse keep on blowing up on the first charge but the set does work when power is charged up - after you replace the fuse- the problem is with possible high drain on the first charge. So it can be that the convergence circuit is not stabilising and hence outputting with a intial thrust.
Check for partial short of filter capacitors in this section, check for faulty /weak capacitors in the convergence section.
A possible leak in the transformer cannot be ruled out or the feedback voltage to subsections can be a suspect.
Disconnect each one of these circuits while conecting the fuse to access the faulty circuit.
If any component is heating up it can be an indicator to check .
If the fuse seems to blow on cold start warm up the suspeccted board area before you swiitch on. It this works then the suspected components must be pinpointed. Also reduce the +B voltage to find out if the set stabilises.

The first fuse was burned down because one of the IC was experiencing problems. The second time happened because the IC finally failed completely. Now you have a shorted component that is blocking the power source.
The only thing you should do is to refurbish the Convergence board - use a repair kit that you can buy from here

That kit is composed of the 2 IC's, 5 resistors, 2 capacitors and a fuse.

To test the IC just set the tv on an empty channel and measure the voltage on its pins.

OK, its ITC222 chassis and it seems any convergence output chip shorted out and most probably horizontal output section is also not working, please recheck flyback re-soldering work that seems putting power supply in to protection mode instantly as you get chirp sound.
Power supply goes to protection mode if its output voltage gets short some where in further circuit and in your tv it sounds any convergence output chip out of six is bad.
Let me know if you have additional question.
    Thanks.

re-soldered flyback, is there any thing i should test for?

  • Shahid Electronics
    Shahid Electronics Sep 14, 2010

Yes, check convergence output chips on convergence board mounted on top of chassis, you will see 6 ICs and any one would be defective and causing problem.
Also check horizontal output transistor as it looks shorted out.

do you have the schematics? ware are the 6 ic? and the transistor,,

    how should i test them?

  • Shahid Electronics
    Shahid Electronics Sep 14, 2010

yes, I do have schematics of ITC222 chassis
If you do not have electronics knowledge then do not attempt to repair this tv or at least buy convergence repair kit from Repair Kit as it comes with instructions.
Below is image of rear side of tv and convergence board is marked.

A blown charging circuit fuse? The fuse may be under a floor hatch and mat and not feature in the manual - that turned out to be the case with a Pride Mobility scooter.

TV WAS WORKING FINE, TURNED IT OFF, THEN TURNED IT ONTHE NEXT DAY

Your tv might have a defective power supply, and/or convergence circuit. The initial cause of the problem, if it is the convergence circuit, is usualy a loose conection on one or two jumpers close to the convergence output circuits (STK392-1110), in with case this chips might need to be replaced and a pico fuse of 5A on the power supply too. I hope this help you.

Just a thought, but check all of the pico fuses for a blown fuse. The pico fuses look like a small yellow resistor. Some Hitachi's are famous for having a blown hi-volt ceramic capacitor and a blown pico fuse.
I think the red led on is a short protect indicator, but I could be mistaken.

Rca 52wh73 i replaced the fuse for the convergence and it worked for 2 days. then blew again i replaced the fuse again , now there is no power it wont turn on

your initial problem was the fuse blowing. this is usually caused by bad solder connections on fly back transformer. resolder to solve blown fuse for convergence problem. now for no power check horizontal-output transistor for short. if unit tries to cycle off&on fly back is defective. if no start-up, check capacior in 6v-line center of deflection module in-between heat sink, the top will be raised up . 2200uf/25v replace mch

most likely the convergence Ics have failed. Check F9a04 and F9A05 pico fuses if they are blown you will need to replace them and the convergence Ics.They are located on the center board they are green and look like resistors without the color band. see the photoa193b32.jpg82b89b8.jpg

RCA model P61950

fl231 is the convergence fuse, and is soldered to the board in proximity of the convergence ICS, on RCA rear projection TVs.

If
fl231 has blown, TV usually does not turn on at al, if you get bowed picture, that means that the convergence ICs must be replaced.

The fuse is on the same board where you find convergence ICs, if the fuse had blown, or the pico fuses at the base of the STK convergence ics had blown, the STKs must be replaced.
There is need of purchasing the service manual to do the job.

The repair shuld be done by a technician.

This is the convergence IC, model may vary:

Convergence problem

If the convergence is out on that set you most likely do not need to make an adjustment the circuit will need to be repaired. There is a stk on the convergence amp board that needs to be replaced. A good tv shop will run you somewhere between $300-$500 to do the repair

HD52W59 Convergence problem

DId you solder the flyback transformer connections..... This is the main reason these fuses fail. THe flyback is the big black component next to the fuse. poor solder connection cause oscillations.. this fuse is only .4 amps whish dosent stand up to that well.. resolder these pins on the flyback.... the first time i replaced this fuse i failed to solder played well for 2 days then came back blown again
